Well lit, polished timber floors and walls, recently renovated, flat screen TVs on the walls, large open plan area with a designated dining area and plenty of seating. Classier and less sleazy than your typical pub, a great place to go with friends for a drink. Definitely better than Monkey Bar down the street. However the food was terrible and overpriced. It cost $43 for one ravioli, one burger, one beer and one house wine.
My spinach and ricotta ravioli was the worst I've ever had. I was not anticipating fine dining in a pub but it was almost inedible. It was stone cold, very rubbery and no flavour. The only reason I may come back is for the ambience. I like the young, hip vibe and that it is generally filled with well-to-do, 20 to 30 year old guys and girls rather than older men.
Well, having turned up for a work drinks function (where a sizeable tab had been handed over), I wasn't impressed by the thug of a waiter telling me "this is a drinks only tab ...". Fortunately, one of the women behind the bar said "they can have what they want ...". Regardless of her assistance, it put me off ever going to this place, period. Also, the smokers are given the prime area.
As a smoker, The Orch is heaven. The courtyard is clean, well heated and big. The inside is stylish and well lit. It's the regular hang-out place for me and friends these days.
Yeah, the Orchard Tavern is looking really good nowdays. The pizzas are pretty decent and they always have something for vegetarians like myself. The last time I went, for dessert I had a really rich and moist chocolate cake with King Island cream. I loved it but I couldn't finish it. Actually, I wish I had some in front of me right now. Yum.
Clean, bright the courtyard is fantastic, went for lunch, had the chicken fillet stack. Which was NOT overcook or dry, came with fresh salad with plenty of dressing. $19.90 might be a bit overpriced but the size of the serving was well worth it.
Fantistic place! Just been totally redone and is better than ever. Great atmosphere with plenty of Tv's with the latest sport and a duke box. The food is pretty good and is reasonably priced. Great place for a drink anytime of the week!
Yup, so it's all been redone and is looking very schmick... quite echoey and loud though! I've been here with workmates for Friday lunch (you must book it's so busy). Everyone's meals have always been yummy with a great twist. Today one guy made a mistake while ordering and they happily tailored to cater him which I thought was great when they were so busy. I've had one of their pizzas and a roast vegetable salad... pretty good. Not amazing but worth a visit.
The Orchard Tavern has recently reopened after a large renovation. The open courtyard is now brighter, clearer and modern. The interiors have also been updated though they're not quite ready for service yet. It has a view that real estate agents would call "district views". It's better quality than usual pub food with a smattering of exotic "mains" available at restaurant prices. The servings are large (perhaps unhealthily oversized and overpriced?) but well prepared and well presented.
Food was nicely presented and well cooked. Steak was cooked as requested. Was good value as it was half price night. Apart from the steak itself, servings were on the small side.
