No value here as you are paying inflated prices for the pleasure of the location and view. We ordered pastries from Becasse Bakery which were ok but certainly not excellent in flavour or texture as one would expect.

Additionally, they made an error by making and serving up the wrong coffee only to have the waitstaff argue with us indicating that we ordered it that way at the counter. I know how we ordered it, just take it away and re-make it the way we asked without the lip, for goodness sake!

Ate at Kenji's recently, beautiful sushi but outrageously expensive. You can't beat the location though.

Be warned that the $11 spring rolls (4) are the size of your thumb, or smaller. Service was terrible. For 6pm on a monday night, there was only one girl on the till and when she didn't know how to ring something up, the line was left waiting for 10 minutes whilst she search for a manager. The frustrating thing was there was another register and 3 or 4 wait staff loitering but no one knew how to work the till. $10 minimum also on Eftpos or surcharge. Very chaotic and average at best.

We ordered spinach and feta dumplings (4 for $9.50), prawn dumpling (3 for $9.50 - why 3?) and the $11 spring rolls, massive waste of money. We wanted to also order the pork buns or the Thai vermicelli rolls but all were sold out. Next time I will go back to Opera bar over opera kitchen.

We ordered the chicken burger and wagyu beef burger. Both were disgusting, cold, bread was stale and the food was inedible. The prices were an extreme rip off, $43 for two burgers with chips. Save your money and go do McDonalds!

I have eaten at Kenji's sushi on at least 7 several occasions. The sashimi fish is very fresh and the sushi rolls, tempura and carpaccio they make are just delightful. This is some serious sushi outside of Japan!

Service unfortunately is hit and miss. Cordial and pleasant when not too busy, but when they are busy (the two hours before show time) it's a bit chaotic especially on Friday and Saturday night. The ordering system they have at Opera Kitchen is very confusing. When eating at Kenji's you must take your order first directly with the cashier at Kenji's before taking your seats. It gets more confusing when you order a drink that isn't from the Kenji menu (it comes delivered from a separate centralised bar).

This can be difficult to ascertain when busy or if you are new to Opera Kitchens. Sushi is very expensive here, but the quality and presentation is outstanding. If you have some money to burn, it’s worth it. Kenji also has regular specials which are value for money ranging from under $20, $35 or under $75 which is great if you want to give Kenji a try without having to take a loan.

The other eateries are lovely too. For Miss Chu, Cloudy Fish, Charlie and Co and Becasse, you must order from a separate common cashier desk to Kenji. Miss Chu's menu-in particular duck pancakes, dumplings and rice paper rolls are wonderful. But the number of portions you receive based on price is expensive. Cloudy Fish unfortunately isn't anything spectacular. I find their fish is always dry, which is a shame-I really want to like their food. Charlie and Co. burgers I find are far too overpriced for what they are, nor do I find them anything out of the ordinary. Their chips are lovely though. I have to admit, the Grill’d burger chain does a superior job of making burgers over Charlie and Co. Bacasse bakery is lovely, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Overall, Opera Kitchens is a much needed welcome and long overdue to the Opera House vicinity. Yes, it is damn expensive, but it’s located in a world renowned tourist hot spot with fantastic harbour views. Even if you don’t agree with the pricing or the food, I think you would be hard pressed to argue that eateries of this type of calibre have been long overdue at the Opera House. I don’t miss the bain-marie style café of previous years.

When a restaurant has this view, not much else needs to go right. Fortunately it did at Cloudy Bay Fish Co. The staff were friendly and attentive and the fress we enjoyed was excellent. The plank roasted salmon salad: of King Salmon marinated with lemon and herbs, roasted on a cedar plank was melt in your mouth gorgeous. A colleague's Wagyu Burger with beetroot relish, gherkin and aged cheddar was equally delish. We successfully experimented with the misschu frozen coconut fruit crushie. The bowl of chips were also worth the calories. Whilst the prices are on the expensive side, the whole experience was enjoyable. But here you relish the view, What a location!

Couldn't go past the new Opera Kitchen when choosing a place for a quick bite before a concert, and managed to grab a table in the upper area which has a perfect view of the harbour bridge.

We were surprised that even though we had to give a general idea on the order for where we were sitting, as both the drinks and the food came out we had to wave down the server as they looked (ineffectually) for the order number that was sitting on our table.

The Charlie and Co. burgers we had were good. I was a little disappointed with the burger bun, as I'd read somewhere that the Becasse bakery make the buns fresh, and it didn't seem as fresh as I was expecting. The fries that came with the burger were the high point of the meal.

At $21.50 a burger, it's crazy expensive, but at a location like that, you're paying for the real estate, and had it been a sunny summer evening, it would have been worth the extra money.
