I agree with the last comment this place is a joke. The food is alright but for the prices you expect better quality. I have never had such horrible lamb in a Greek restaurant. We ordered the $30 all you can eat buffet. The meals were tiny and when we tried to order more food we had close to a two-hour wait. The entire meal lasted an horrendous four and a half hours and no one left satisfied.
The staff are another story. The people who work in this place are possibly the rudest collection of people I have ever encountered. They deserve to be unemployed. One staff member decided to have an argument about if the customer had ordered a beer. Instead of simply taking the order the waiter left and returned with a note pad and kept repeating, "There is no record of you ordering a drink." It was like watching a five year old child in a school yard argument. It was embarrassing for everyone.
To top it all off we saw the staff produce a birthday cake to one table only to realise (after the candles were blown out) that they had produced the wrong cake. They quickly took it back and returned with the correct cake. The cake that was first produced was later served to the correct table without so much of an apology or an explanation. I don’t think either of the birthday parties were too impressed.
Overall the place has poor service and deliberately frustrates people by having large gaps between plates of food causing customers to simply give up and leave.
Greek yum cha what a joke tiny little portions are to be shared between 4 people I was ashamed to say I was greek as the food was terrible, no taste and small portions. Won't be back.
The food was fantastic. It was a shame they don't include dolmades anymore. We ordered a serve (5 dolmades) and they charged us $16! A bit steep. The waiters were annoying as they kept asking us if we had finished with the cocktail list. I kept saying no but a soon as we went outside for a smoke they took it. I asked for it back and they said they didn't have enough. Note to Opah : get enough cocktail lists. Especially if you aren't having BYO anymore.
We had a great time and the food was great. However, the managers comment of 'can I just say you guys smell great' when we came back in from having a smoke was totally inappropriate.
Coming from a very critical Greek (only when it comes to Greek places), overall I enjoyed my experience at Opah. When we walked in the staff were very friendly, treated us with a smile which should be the focus in service for every establishment.
We were seated and given tzatziki & taramosalata (the pink dip). The Bread was traditional Greek damper, but was preserved from the weekend and was mildly rubbery. This was the only let down of the day.
My family & I ordered the $30 Yum Cha. All of it was great. Portion wise at first it looks a bit small, but when I realised there was 6 more dishes coming I shut my mouth. The Haloumi was cooked perfectly but lacked lemon. The Keftethes were cooked perfectly, warm and soft inside. The loukanika sausages) tasted great and had the exact proportion of bite I was looking for.
The Saganaki, was very very nice. Unfortunately it cannot be compared to that of the quality of Saganaki in Greece, but nevertheless was decent. The Lamb dish as the final dish was mouthwatering. It left a lasting impression for me. Although I cannot say that it can come close to that of traditional home style Greek lamb, for a commercial establishment it was . . . enjoyable.
One let down for such an upmarket establishment was the presentation of the food. A simple lemon wedge, or 2, with some watercress on the side, would make a big diffrence. People will pay such an amount of money for food, if it is attractive to the eyes.
Overall I would highly recommend this place for a lunch with the family or even dinner with a partner. Value only let down due to the bread and presentation of the food.
I have been here a few times and had the $30 yum cha. It is excellent value for money & so yum. It is one of my favourite Greek restaurants and I would reccommend it. The corkage was reasonable and service was ok. I will deffinitely be visiting again.
My husband and I had our wedding celebration at Opahs on the 2nd of august. This was our second wedding, so it was a select group of 60 friends and family. The service was fantastic, staff were very responsive to all (our kids were treated great).
The food was lovely, everybody has since made comments how great. The prices for the food and drinks were very reasonable and the staff were only to happy to allow us to set some decorations prior to everyones arrival. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I know that Opah are going to have patrons from our great day.
The staff of this restaurant behaved in a very arrogant manner towards us. On this particular night, he was very rude and insulting to our group. This is no way to treat paying customers. Whatever happened to good customer service, it was nonexistent. We went with a large group and there was not enough food served. We waited ages for glasses to arrive; when they came they were so hot we could not pour the wine into them. The service was slow, restaurant was so crowded you couldn't move and so loud you could hardly hear yourself speak. This place definitely isn't worth it. I would not recommend it, nor would I eat there again.
I would just like to say fantastic, the food was beautiful, the wait staff were very attentive and helpful especially when it came to deciding on the set menu or courses. One waiter (Ian) in particular sold us the set menu very well and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back for more.
The food was great, the atmosphere was great, the service, was great, but most of all the young waiter Ben was the highlight, he is young, handsome, funny, smart, and an all round 5 star package who made our experience, a true experience.
