Just rating the food: Good Italian.

Wanted to try this place as it was one of the few Inner West restaurants that made it into the Good Food Guide 2012.

The Blue Swimmer Crab Spaghettini with chilli was delicious with subtle flavours. The Pappardelle with Wild Mushroom Ragu was too greasy and salty. The Fish of the Day (Swordfish) was fresh and well-cooked. Homemade bread was yummy and slightly doughy.

Popular lunchtime spot in bayside park close to Rhodes Business Park. We visited early on a weekday and this restaurant quickly filled up with enthusiastic diners.

We came here for lunch, and the entree (calamari) and main (steak) were very tasty. Moderately expensive though (about $70 2 courses), wines expensive. Service was okay. Might come back for special occasions. Carpark right outside the restaurant which is handy. (3 hour free park).

Very professional staff. Great surrounding and ambience. Reasonable, passable food but definitely over priced. Perhaps, will bring back my girl for the atmosphere.

This place does the Italian standards ok. I had the Veal which was tasty enough, the accompanying potatoes were way overcooked and bordered on burnt. It's not exactly cheap so probably expected a bit better. The dining room is pleasant enough, the view is nice during high tide. Service was a poor. In a restaurant with maybe 5 tables of diners it is a bit of a worry when you are constantly trying to get a waiters attention.

The line list is expensive nothing on offer at the budget end (cheapest was $45 in a restaurant where mains are around $35). Not enough variety offered. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here.

I have dined here once so far and have found it to be very good. The menu is modern Italian/Australian. It is very similar to Grappa at Leichhardt (I think the owners are related). A bit hard to get to if you do not drive but well worth the effort.

Moderately expensive, but high quality food. A view to die for - overlooks the Parramatta River. An excellent range of pasta, as well as quality mains. Good range of wines, but no 'cheapies' on the list. BYO is available, albeit c. $5 per person.

We were pretty unimpressed with Oliveto. We wanted so much to like here, because it's so close, but the warning bells started to ring immediately. We ordered drinks to commence, one being a beer at $8 which arrived at the table poured, flat and with no sign of the bottle from which it came. A big no-no in my book, but to be fair I did notice alot of others having their beer-pour completed from the bottle at their table.

The wine list is comprehensive, and expensive, with the cheapest bottle of red or white offered at $40. The meals are right up there in price too, yet it seems at odds with the almost communal food-hall type seating, and the number of large groups sharing pizza and beers. What is it with have the bulk of the menu being pizza and pasta, and then trying to be fine dining with the a la carte?

To me, it's at odds, either be one or the other and excel. Don't attempt both and not too well, as we experienced with our meals. We had scallops for an entree, and a seafood grill for the main and they were both overcooked. The lamb shoulder we had for the other main was overcooked too. The best dish of the night was the entree of figs wrapped in prosciutto which combined wonderfully with a gorgeous serve of complimentary ciabatta with olive oil to dip.

Just a side note, it was a rainy, cold night yet the air-con was so high that we shivered the whole time we were there. So, with a bottle of $45 wine, 2 x starter drinks, two entrees and two mains the damage was in excess of $180 which I would have been fine with if our meals were expertly cooked. But they weren't, and it's a shame, because there were glimpses of what this restaurant could be if they had got it right.

Overall a great experience, as this was for my sister's engagement. We had the best seats in the house and our waiter was very attentive. The beef eye fillet was to die for, but the pastas which came out in platters were not that great. Maybe because there was enough wheat products/carbs in the bread and the pizza base garlic bread we already had for appetisers.

Recommended for a special occasion, otherwise, normally out of our price range.
