Always a good atmosphere, good selection of beers with new additions every time I visit. Open smoking room at the back plus, small theater upstairs, traditional decor, no thumbing music, friendly bar staff!

As another reviewer mentioned does get busy pre-show, an average malay restaurant (altho I believe that may have changed). Best pub in the kx wooloomooloo potts point area.

The Laksa here is sweet, average, vego was pretty skint on tofu, definitely below par. Maybe I wouldn't have minded so much except I felt kind of ripped off, buying the show, beer and laksa deal and finding out that the beer was a midi (not a real beer by anyone's standards!) and then to get vegetables in the vegetarian laksa it was $3 more. What is worth more to an establishment, half a beer and a handful of vegies, or goodwill from customers?

Great pub! do yourself a favour and book a table out the front on a sunny day. Kick back with a few beers and a laksa.

This is not what you expect in the heart of Woolloomooloo! The Old Fitzroy is well worth investigating, there's a small quirky theatre, a charming traditional pub and family-run kitchen producing renowned laksas.

The staff are always friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and the prices great. My only gripe is a lack of consistency food-wise. Given that the staff are always the same, I find it a little odd that the quality varies so much. I've had laksas in here that have been nothing short of perfect and I've had some that have been a little bland with overcooked ingredients (rubbery squid is never fun). Having said that, even on an off-day it's still acceptable (I've never sent anything back) and an absolute bargain, $10 a main!

Well worth investigating, but head down later to avoid the pre-theatre crowds and get the best seats.

A good pub hidden in Woolloomooloo. It is a good hideaway that does an okay cheap laksa.

The food here was served very quickly and was of a good standard for pub food. I have eaten better but I was impressed what they were able to do. The prices are really good and the portion size are large. We ate here on a busy Friday night but still managed to order and get served inside 15 minutes.

Irrespective of the reviews of the food at the Fitzroy (hopefully not true, never got further than the beer menu?) this is a cracking little pub, minutes form Kings Cross & without the general pretentious of the area. A charming place, really liked the upstairs with lots of wee partitioned off areas, pool table & balcony. One of the regular local haunts. Staff spot on & friendly, excellent after work boozer for a couple of Scots woring in the area. I am returning to Sydney this year for an extended holiday & planning on popping in for a couple of cold ones.

What a great little pub hidden away in the back streets of Woolloomooloo. My friend and I decided to go for the beer/laksa/play deal, great value, or so we thought. The laksa was certainly not authentic, below average. My friend found a baby cockroach in her laksa, suffice to say, I didn't finish mine.

We complained and were given our money back for the laksa. About 2 minutes later, the owner of the restaurant came back to us, saying to give her $2.00 back for each meal, as it was cheaper under the beer/laksa/show deal. We refused and she went away in a huff. The atmosphere of the place is great, the play fantastic but please, don't eat the food!

The Old Fitzroy is a beautiful little pub in Woolloomooloo with a warm, friendly atmosphere and great food. The best thing on the menu is the yummy Laksa! The bar staff are friendly and the little free plays in the theatre are usually very good.

The best thing about this place is it's so hidden so it's usually quite quiet here. It's a great place to chill out and have dinner and a few drinks after work. It's also an awesome place for a date. I'd recommend it to anyone. Try the laksa!!
