I really enjoyed dining here on sunday dinner. I felt the ambience was from a kinda dental clinic but it was quiet and simple. Food was pretty good except curry calamari and wafuu beef. Their teriyaki chicken was really nice. I hope I can visit there again very soon.

Food was a bit hit and miss at this place. Firstly, the variety is a bit lacking. There isn't much to choose from if you're after noodles, such as udon or ramen. The only noodle on the menu was a noodle salad. A bit of variety in don dishes. No sushi available at all. Their entree selection is decent. Had ordered the gyoza, which I think was over fried. The chicken karaage set menu was ok, although felt it wasn't much in terms of portion size.
The una egg don was ok and was served in a large bowl. That was satisfying. If you feel for tea, they have 4 different choices. The friendly waiter was able to recommend one, which was quite good. Not sure how this place copes with large groups of people. The venue isn't the biggest, with some outdoor seating. The place is located down a tiny mall, so there is minimal thoroughfare and you can easily miss it, as you walk down Darling St.
Overall it's attempt at Japanese food ok, albeit with limited choice at hand. Ok value, but some dishes may leave you needing more to eat. Expect typically hospitable Japanese service.

I agree with the other posters. The food is authentic japanese bar food. The menu is a bit limited, but sufficient, cheap and good value.

Very good local restaurant with interesting food, an outstanding venue. Small but the food is exceptional, portions were a bit small but price was cheap, quality was very high. Service is ok, doesn't provide enough table service, but very good value. Would go back as it is close to home.

Excellent value yummy Japanese food, with friendly service. We are addicted to the agedashi tofu and gyzuo dumplings. The dishes are quite special and unique.

Wonderful food, group of us having birthday party. Ordered a selection of dishes, the soft shall crab and tofu steak are amazing. Great value in the Balmain area. Highly recommended.
