After reading many positive reviews I decided to take my girlfriend on a date here!!! I have to say the food was perfect, service immaculate.. and great value for money. I ordered 2 mains, 3 entrees, 2 servings sashimi, 2 beers and a glass of wine..only costed me $132...!!!

The only downfall was that it was ship night so there was no view...but what can you do!!? I highly recommend to go there..i will definitley be back.

Have dined here twice at group corporate events, which are not usually the best times to "judge" a restaurant. However both times expectations have been surpassed with the quality of food, timely service and the waitstaff.

My most recent dining was on Melbourne Cup day, a notoriously difficult day but we were treated with respect and careful attention right until and including our departure at about 7pm thus intruding on their evening service. This definitely encourages me to try again as a private diner.

I dined here with several work colleagues recently and was very impressed by the quality of the food & service. We had the sashimi, wasabi prawns, the natural prawns & waygu beef for starters, followed by salt & pepper crab, wok fried prawns & lobster for mains - all which were superb!

Definitely a must try - and we will be back!

I found the service a bit hit and miss. When you got access to staff, they were very knowledgeable about the food, but they seemed to be distracted doing other things apart from helping customers. I noticed other tables trying to unsuccessfully get the attention of wait staff. When we wanted to pay the bill, we had to track down staff to get it, and ended up paying at the door.

The senior staff (my presumption as he processed our bill, and wasn't dressed like a waiter), seemed very disinterested in us to the point that my dinner guest was ignored when asking him a question about the restaurant. This was at 10 pm on a Tuesday night, so not exactly the busiest time. Presentation of the desserts and all the food in general was excellent. But all in all, $105 for two small plates, two side dishes, water, coffee and dessert was a little poor value considering the service.

I booked Ocean Room to celebrate my brothers birthday and also my parents were in Sydney from overseas, so to be able to sit and have the view of the Opera house and Circular Quay was a bonus. We came early so we sat at the bar and had a few drinks to start the night. They have a great range of cocktails but no mocktails for the driver of the night, but they managed to whip something up for him.

Once seated at our table, we ordered some rolls to start as well as the soft shell tacos which were all tasty little morsels. Then we all had a main each, with my miso cod, even though it was small in size it was so tasty! Chill snapper, wagyu (which you cook yourself) and pork belly was enjoyed by the other diners but nothing looked that tempting on the dessert menu, so we went outside for some ice cream instead.

It was a great night overall but when the waitress brought the bill to the table when it wasn't even asked was rude and made us feel we had to rush out the door. (restaurant wasn't even half full).

October 27,2007 - My boyfriend and I had a great experience dining at Ocean Room, we got a seat right by the window to enjoy the views of the opera house. We were early so we had no problems with service, the food was delicious, especially the scampi, chilli wok fried. It can be a bit pricy but great for special occasions. Would like to go back to try their degustation menu.

My husband and I ate here last evening for the first time and it was absolutely wonderful. The wait staff were extremely attentive and helpful with the menu. We have dined at many fine restaurants and the seafood tasting menu at the Ocean Room was the best we have ever had in terms of quality and value (good portion sizes and at $90 per person it is an excellent value). We will certainly be back for the tasting menu again.

Disappointed by the portions and quality of food. We were hoping it would be a special occasion for my mum's 50th, but even the cocktail which we wanted to be 'dressed up sexy' failed to live up to expectations. Although the service was admittedly good, it was lowered by the fact that the restaurant did not allow birthday cakes.

We had a lovely evening here, the ambience and the view are superb and the food lives up to expectations. The wasabi prawns are special and the scampi was delicious. I found the service very good, the waitress had a good knowledge of the menu and when one person in our group dropped her knife, a replacement was provided before the original had even hit the ground and (hopefully)before anybody else in our group noticed. A very pleasant place to spend an evening.

Service was not good. Definitely not the service I expected to receive from a well established restaurant like Ocean Room. We have been a long time to enter and the main course arrived 1 hour later. Even the food is ok, but after waiting that long, who cares. Most disappointed!

I went there a couple of times, and I must say, the food was always really great and the service professional and friendly. Moreover, the view on the Opera House and Circular Quay are really appreciable. So yes, I would recommend it !
