This is a very nice restaurant in Sydney. Products are very sophisticated. The decor is really great and the view of the opera is perfect. The only negative is the mediocrity of this waitress, she is not nice.

I've now been twice to this restaurant, once for a romantic dinner, and once for a birthday party.
The romantic dinner was quite wonderful. We found the staff to be helpful and observant, staying professional at all times. We had the degustation, which is an incredible Japanese-based fusion of seafood with delightful nods in a contemporary direction. Chef Noda has quite a history, we always loved Rise in Darlinghurst - and now we get to experience him in full flight. It's like keiseki ryori meets France, meets the worlds best ingredients...a delight!
The second visit was for a friends birthday. We had a party on the terrace that was brilliantly serviced, with spectacular canape's, an enormous sushi display, staff moving endlessly filling glasses, and of course, that view.
Both events were catered to flawlessly, with food that causes conversation, in a beautiful setting. I would highly recommend this restaurant, most particularly for lovers of Japanese cuisine, and fans of skilled, passionate chefs.

Amazing view to the opera house, nice b.g.m. and started off with a recommend cold sake. oishii!
Degustation was $90 per person and it was a very different japanese dining experience. Sashimi tartar on ice cream cone, soft shell crab crispy tacos, smoked slow cooked ocean trout with avocado sauce. Highlight was the tuna sampler with 5 different presentation of tuna with match sauce. oishii! Finish with wagyu and black cod mains and then sushi. Highly recommended with romantic atmosphere.

The waitstaff seem to be backpackers who have just landed the job, they really have no interest in working there, most of the time they stood around and watched the cruise liners!
Ordered a few entrees which were not explained to us and just thrown onto the table. Ordered the steak which had sinew through it. Called the waitstaff and she just ignored our comment. A $40 steak that looked like pub grub. Very disappointing.
Honestly the only thing good about this place is the view, the food is average and very overpriced, the service needs improving.

Booked for my husband's birthday and after reading some reviews here I was quite excited about our dinner.
We order: 2 x soft shell crab taco, 1 x tuna five ways, 1 x chilli and garlic Marron, 1 x 300g rib eye steak (medium rare), 1 x Spicy Potato fries. We had a waitress (who might not have been having a good day) slammed our 2 soft shell tacos on the table knocking them over. The tuna 5 ways was also slammed onto the table and no explanation was given as to which cooking technique was used for which piece of tuna.
The chilli and garlic marron should have been spicy, but was very salty and the steak was cooked well done with a vein running through the middle (very shocked as it was a $40 steak and even pub grub have better cuts of steak)
I raised the issue of the steak with our waitress and she just shrugged her shoulders. No apology from her or Oceanroom. The only nice thing about Oceanroom is the view and they really need to get more Japanese waitstaff.

My partner and I had tasting course. We enjoyed creative and well prepared dishes. Most of the waiters were friendly and service was not too bad. It was pity that a certain couple was paid attention by the waiting staff than other customers. Maybe they are royal customers. We had to draw attention to order some drink and wait for quite a while it's arrival but the particular couple got always smiling staff around them.

The food is excellent and very well prepared. However, the dining experience was ruined by the quality of the service, the waiting staff lack experience to work in a quality restaurant. One waiter in particular clearly does not enjoy his job and makes sure the people dining in the restaurant do not enjoy, he was just plain rude. My recommendation... Don't go until they have improved their waiting staff.

Went there for 'Let's do Lunch!' during good food month, and the waiter suggested us to order more because the let's do lunch portions are quite small. So we ordered some tapas, and those tapas are the highlights of the meal! Their Let's do lunch stuff is pretty average for its price though. The decoration and views are stunning, and the waiters are very attentive (and all very European looking).

One of my favorite restraunts in Sydney. Great food, wonderful ambience, particularly if you get those harbour/opera house views... indoor and out door dining... great wine list. Ocean Room is under Japanese Dining. I wouldn't describe it as that at all... more fine dining seafood/asian fusion... regardless a visit is a must.

Ocean Room is a beautifully designed restaurant and the food is pretty to match. In terms of taste, it's decent but not mindblowing, though the dessert platter is definitely worth your time!
