Decent food, and decent serving size, besides the salads which I think are overpriced and small in size. Not sure I understand why the place is so busy although food seems to be relatively fresh.

The down side is the appalling service. Have been several times, and to be honest, the staff would clearly rather be somewhere else. There is no logical system to taking orders and this hasn't changed over time. We waited for a while and when we finally asked if we could order, were told someone would be with us when they're free. Had to tell the staff to go serve/assist my partner when he went to choose the salmon he wanted grilled.

A numbering system would make much more sense then just yelling out people's orders and hoping someone steps up. Very slap-dash service and rude staff, as well as on the pricier side. Expect a wait. Will be going to everywhere else first before going back.

Highly recommend this place, it's my first choice for seafood everytime. The food is always delicious and of the best quality every single time I visit. They have great service everytime considering how busy they always get! The shop also has a wide selection of foods which all meet the value for money. I'd definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Are you kidding me? Best in the Universe the sign said. This place is over priced with mediocre quality. Best part of my meal was the salad. The rest was below average and it didn't like my stomach either, or is it the other way round? Either way just go around this place, there has to be better.

I went there on Saturday night, expecting some really nice fish, however I got the worst grilled fish ever and it was way too expensive for what it was. My partner who is fisherman from Port Lincoln was also very disappointed in the food, not to mention the service, it was just all round disappointing. We will not go there again nor we will recommend it.

At first we took a long time to get served. When we ordered we were greeted by a man who would rather be someplace else. Took over the estimated time and was served after people who came after us got served before us. Once we got the food we sat down and started eating. My fish, which was grilled had an awful coating of salty, packaged spices which I did not ask for.

I just wanted plain grilled fish. Did not taste like Dory. My sons fried fish had grease dripping from it. Wouldn't be surprised if it had Msg. Will never go back. This place does not deserve all the awards it has received. Majorly overrated.

Our experiences with take away fish and chips from here are good. Food is yum, and as we only ever go on Tues/Wed, not too expensive. My personal favourite from here is the grilled fish.

Update Jan '11: Ocean foods has since become our 'go-to' place for seafood. The staff are professional and reasonably quick, considering they're usually crazy-busy whenever we go.

June '11: They finally got an extra staff member a little while ago so that the phone is manned for orders. Calling ahead is definitely recommended so that you don't have to stand around for 20 minutes in store.

I've been to many fish and chip shops in sSdney and this one remains my favourite. Seafoods is always fresh (though a little bit oily).

I live in the area and every time I drive past this place, I am absolutely puzzled as to why it is so busy. I went there a few times when we first moved to the area a few years ago. We were disappointed every time. We thought we would give it a go again last week. It certainly hasn't improved. If anything, it is worse.

The service is lousy, the food is way too grease and far from fresh. The only thing I would say is even edible is grilled fish. And it is so expensive. I have had cheaper meals in a reasonable sit down restaurant. The fish and chips in Chiswick has far better fish and chips and everything else, is better priced and never as busy, which is puzzling.

So, I will keep driving right past this place and wonder why people keep coming back. They certainly will not see me again, ever.

Still not sure what people see here. I have tried 3 times and been massively disappointed 3 times. It is chaotic to try and get served and even choosing some of the more expensive options did not work. $50 for some very average fish and chips with a tiny salad with rubbery calamari rings - not good. Sorry 3 strikes for me.

This place needs a system for orders.How about a number when you order and flash it up when its ready?. Its absolute chaos on a Fri night. Oh and be warned. The marinated fish is "swimming" in the stuff. Go easy chef please.
