I have some new friends who moved away from the Oatley area 7 years ago for a seachange on the Sunshine Coast. When they heard I live in Oatley their eyes lit up, they recommended I say hello to their friends at Oatley Chinese and Malaysian Restaurant.
Seven years on they are still hungry for a meal, lovingly served from this cosy family orientated restaurant. I have the feeling more of visiting a family home with Grandpa cuddling a little dark haired living doll and lovingly displaying her artwork in his restaurant.
Simply put, when you eat the best Malaysian Satay in Sydney not only will you have a deliciously fresh meal that makes you marvel with every mouthful. You will know that you are being served a meal that the chef would place in front of his own sister or mother. A great believer of ability of love being able to be cooked right into the food, this restaurant achieves this. Big time! Look online for the menu and amble in, in your best outfit or your comfy lounge wear because you will most certainly be at home.
By far the best, and I mean, the best chinese restaurant within a 100 mile radius.

Have been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years and the quality of the food is consistently excellent. House specialties such as the pepper steak, singapore chilli mud crab and spicy squid are a must to try (though you'll need to pre-order crab).
Have tried many dishes off the traditional chinese menu and they are superb as well!
Servings are generous and well priced, staff are always friendly and accommodating. Great place to eat.

I have eaten here many a time, there is limited seating, so if you are in a group, book ahead of time. Gluten Free options available, Just let the waiter/chef know and they can advise or alter the meal to Gluten Free as they have great knowledge of a gluten free diet.
The food is absolutely delicious and plentiful with some unusual dishes from this great little Chinese restaurant.

Have dined in and had takeaway from this restaurant some years ago, and it was sort of Ok then. Takeaway last night was dreadful. Chicken Fillet and Cashews, No cashews - not one! Pork Fillet in Ginger Sauce, couple of bits of old ginger, some yellowing spring onions and lots of tough pork and onions. If that was pork fillet, then I'm a spring chicken (I'm 66!).
Singapore Noodles were chewy, either hadn't been pre-soaked properly or had been allowed to dry out, and there was a cluster of dark brown ones amongst them which tasted vile, don't know why, I hate to think. The best part of the meal was the complimentary prawn crisps, which by comparison tasted delicious.
Next time, starving at 7.30, after a three hour drive to Sydney from the country, we'll have scrambled eggs at home.

The reviews read great, the restaurant was packed, all good signs, but for us that was where it ended. We ordered a prawn kapitan, caramelised eggplant and spicy salt squid.
As our first dish arrvied the order was mixed up, and we sent it back, probably a mistake, as when the squid arrived it was oily, and bland, no spices no salt.
The kapitan prawns were well cooked, but the sauce did not resemble any kapitan I have ever seen or eaten, and again bland no real flavour. The eggplant had potential but again was over oily and not enough sauce. I have had similar dishes elsewhere that were much better.
The servings are huge though.

Based on the Eatability reviews we were first attracted from the Eastern Suburbs to deepest darkest West Oatley to try this neat little Chinese restaurant (capping off an enjoyable day at the scenic riverside Oatley Park). Since then we've been back several times and have always been most satisfied.
This restaurant puts outstanding care into the selection of high-quality ingredients and the production of interesting seasonal dishes. Even their base ingredients such as dumplings and sauces are hand-made on the premises instead of being bought in. Prices are a few dollars higher as a result but well worth it. Bring your favourite BYO and enjoy.

Nice place for a local restaurant. The service was well paced (it was not that busy). The choice of food is good especially the Malaysian dishes. Would go back, kids seemed to enjoy it.

Love the food. Very fussy when it comes to Chinese this food is amazing. Have been going to this restaurant for years. I keep going back because it is worth the trip. Staff are friendly. Always willing to for fill their customers desires. Clean and tidy, who needs fancy decor when the food is brilliant. First time I have done a review. Only worth doing when you know it's good.

Fantastic food. The House Specialities on the stand alone menu are really good too. Can't wait to have the caramelised eggplant wedges and chilli again. My fellow diners like chilli but I don't so we were all satisfied as the chillies were easily avoided. Yum yum. The freshly made fruit sorbets are really good too. Kiwifruit, honeydew and rockmelon, just to name a few. We were so impressed that we 5 ladies are bringing our men back at easter time.
We were also nicely surprised when the owner/chef Philip came out and spoke to us. Lovely man, good heart! The 5 of us have been dining out once a month since 1993 and this would be one of the best we have come across. Generous helpings and good prices too! Next time I want to try the apple spring rolls and the duck sang choy bow.
