Northies well where should I start, the food at restaurant prices and is no where near as good. Drinks are extremely overpriced. Northies on a sunday night is good fun apart from that don't go there it's a mosh pit,
Don't bother going for food, for a beer or wine it's fine. It's a pub and they should not bother cooking, I have had better food at a local school canteen. Harsh maybe but very true, if most of these reviews are consistent then you make the judgment.
I went there on a Friday night with a friend for something to eat and a few drinks. Blimey, talk about below average food at expensive prices. The pizza was $17 greasy and was like a mini-sized pizza. The salad at $13 was wilted leaves and not much more. To top it all off I got $4.80 change from $20 for two pints of Stella. That's outrageous especially for dodgy tasintg Stella.
On the flip side, the waitress asked us about our meals and we politely gave her our opinion. She provided us a few drinks which was nice of her.
What has happened to the food at Northies? Since the new menu, the standard has taken a dive and on our last visit, it hit rock bottom. It's already the most expensive place to drink in the area, now the food is consistently disappointing and the atmosphere has gone as well. It's tired, often dirty, and far too many prams, runaway toddlers and noisy kid's tables.
I think people need to remember that this place is 99% pub. If you go there generally lunch and dinner time is ok during the week, forget anything but lunch on the weekends unless you prefer having to eat standing up or out of someone elses lap. Maybe you like beer as a gravy substitue..... what ever tickles your fancy. Food is ok, nothing special. Don't expect service, it is a pub not a restaurant. If security happens to interupt you during your dinner for no reason, calmy put down the knife and leave.
Went here for Mother's Day. It wasn't what I hope for as far as ambience but the food certainly was fabulous. The service is self serve basically so not the place to go if you want to be spoilt.
Northies is a great beach hotel which I visit often. The food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. The Sports Bar is one of the best in Sydney with great staff and good priced drinks. If you want to win meat trays and lots of good stuff, the Sports Bar at Northies is the place to be. I'm a local and recommend that if you are ever in Cronulla, you give it a go.
The Steak is 90% gristle and I don't know what the other 10% is. There are a few good items to eat but far too expensive for what they are. As to all those who complain about the security, they are there doing a job and if they ask you to leave do so, what's so hard about it?
Bad food, ok bar service and appalling security. I live around the corner and refuse to go there. Definitely better places to drink and eat in Cronulla (trust these guys to make some wedges put no further).
