View is great, pity about the service and the tired menu. Seems that the only thing that is comsistent about this place is the menu - it's been there forever. I mean, how often can you eat salt and pepper squid? How about a change, guys? When you do, maybe I'll be back. Maybe.
Our company's christmas function of 47 people at No.1 was such a terrific night! From the prompt and polite serivce of their waitstaff Jen and Chris who greeted all people with a kind smile at all times, to the terrifc culinary talents of Head chef Mario who made guest who didn't seafood not miss out on the tender Salt and Pepper squid, and then to mention the to die for main such as succulent Grain Fed fillet of beef served with mash and veg just melted in your mouth when you ate it!! The atmosphere was great as the cool breeze from the pyrmont lookout made the summer evening delightful. No.1 Harris is definitely one place to dine Breakfast lunch or dinner
Second visit, and the food was consistently pretty good. Succulent salt/pepper squid, excellent carpaccio and duck ravioli was a little odd, but well made. My beef filet was cooked as requested, and desert selection was good. Service is a little inconsistent, but given the very pleasant setting, respectable food, BYO and moderate prices, I'm happy to go back.
No 1 Harris Street cafe is the worst place I have ever eaten at. I only dined @ No 1 Harris Street for breakfast and the wait staff are very very rude. If I could rate in the negatives I would be doing so. Such a shame for a great location.
We went here for a birthday, it was a little busy. I found the wait staff to be snooty, the wine and dessert were very overpriced. We paid $15 for a slice of Pecan Pie! And on top of that, the pie was missing the promised grilled banana! Beautiful spot though.
Best time to come is on a warm sunny morning (provided there's no wind - the buildings funnel it right in) or just as an afternoon storm rolls in across the harbour. The lamb is recommended and Chef Mario is super friendly when he gets the chance to step out of the kitchen.
The food is good, but not as good as you would expect from the price. Great location - but you pay for it. Plenty of other places in Pyrmont serve better food for a cheaper price. Maybe somewhere to take visitors to Sydney, but wouldn't become a regular. Service can be very bad sometimes.
The money spent on renovations were worth it - however with food this good I can put up with a lesser environment. Their chicken caesar salad is the best I've found (and it is suprising how easy it is to make a mediocre caesar). Found it a little expensive, but then that's what you get in "fashionable" suburbs. At least they make up for it (see comments on food).
