I've only been to this pub once or twice in the 4-5 years I have been living in the area. There is no atmosphere in the pub. The drinks are expensive and the bistro is expensive. And why would you want to cook your own food?, who goes out to do that?.

Go here if you want to go out to cook your own food or find yourself stranded on Stanmore Road in desperate need of a beer!

Ordering off the menu will get you some lackluster pub grub, definitely not worth traveling for! The BBQ is novel and can be fun. Best value is on a Monday or Tuesday when you buy one steak get one half price.

While the outdoor 'BBQ' area is quite nice, the rest of the pub is a place for local punters and not great for socialising, unless your idea of socialising is talking which greyhound to pick in the next race at Warrnambool.

    Ok if you live nearby.

Newington Inn is my local pub, tonight I went there with my family to celebrate my mums 48th birthday, one of the ladies at the bar came up to us and asked us to be quiet, I came up to her after and politely informed her that we had two autistic children with us to which she replied "the noise is giving us a headache". My mother works 60 hours a week to make sure my autistic brother has every thing he needs to live a decent life, people like this who simply don't understand because they do not care makes life for us extremely difficult, I'm really disappointed in this establishment for their lack of empathy and understanding and will not ever eat or drink here again and would advise others to do the same.

Great place to kick back and relax. Excellent family venue. Love the special nights. Karaoke nights are fun. The constantly changing blackboard menus make it a great place to return to on a regular basis. The staff are friendly.

As potential goes this place could do so much better. The first thing you notice when you walk into the courtyard are boards on the wall with a list of rules and when ordering food there is another board with another list of rules on that. Not the most welcoming and you begin to think the place must be run by the local council.

It was Sunday lunch time and lots of family with kids but they all seemed well behaved so not real sure why the overkill by the sign police. The food itself is at the wrong end of the dodgy cafeteria scale and although the prices aren't bad they still don't measure up.

The kids pizza although only for kids and only $6.75 still needs to be edible and when a 9 year old asks why they are putting bland processed cheese all over it you need to take notice. The pub is in a good spot with off street parking so I don't think it would take a lot of effort to really be a lot better than it currently is and a smile from the bar staff might not be a bad place to start either.

Friendly staff in the bar. Bistro owners are awesome and generous with every condiment you could possibly wish for.

This was my first visit here in about two years. Although quite a pleasant pub courtyard the food was disappointing and more expensive than last time. The DIY $10 steaks become $16.25 with mash and sauce. The $18 non DIY scotch fillet was tough and a lesser cut than scotch: quite stringy. The sauce and chips were ok. The chicken schnitzel ($12) was tough and tasteless. The sticky date pudding was mediocre, small and definitely not worth $9.50. Overall disappointing food especially compared to previously when it was good food and good value.

What a disappointment. This used to be a great place for a pub meal, unfortunately, standards have slipped. On ordering the cashier misheard the request and when noted she became very belligerent and snorted and grunted her response in rectifying it and continued with the attitude when taking the next group's order.

Very surprising were people lighting up pre, during and post meal with no thought to other people and certainly the pub staff did nothing to request that they go to a special section organised for them. The food was very average, overcooked and bland. No need to specify the sauce, they are all the same with different names. Veggies were colourless and soggy and featured carrots, cauliflower and some sad little beans.

Seriously not value for money when you could easily go somewhere else for a much better meal, in nicer surroundings and not with ciggie smoke wafting happily over your meal.

The steaks on the cook your own are great value, on monday or tuesday night $10 with potato, salad and a free drink. Great condiment table, all the sauces you can think of and nice friendly staff. Would go back again and again.

The Newington is a great little pub. The cook your own through the weekday is now $10 for the decent cuts of meat but mon-fri comes now with a free drink so it all works out. The biggest condiment range I've ever seen and the chips are spot on.! There is also a local cat called Gizmo that hangs out at the pub and is a dude.
