We eat here a lot. The vegetables are always very fresh, the staff are lovely and the decor is charmingly kitsch. Go for the Vantastic Beef or the Veggies and Tofu with Lemongrass.
Some great dishes but ownership changed in late 2005, I have been since and was clearly disappointed.
Van is no longer running the place and the pho is somewhat average. In a suburb where restaurants are by the dozen and well above average New Saigon Falls well by the wayside.
Don't let the prices lead you to think the food is anything above average. The decor and service is authentic family run Vietnamese but the food is very simple and home cooking and I feel they've probably adapted it somewhat to suit the non-Vietnamese clientele. If you want more authentic Vietnamese flavours (as opposed to food prepared by a Vietnamese person) you're better of heading to Pasteur in Haymarket, Thu Thuy in Annandale or even Lien's on Glebe Point Road.
Very nice, but a lot more expensive than Marrickville or Cabramatta... But I guess you pay for the presentation and the atmosphere, and English speaking staff.
