We ate here again for the second time this week. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared. It's simple home style Mexican food packed with flavour. They always welcome our 4 months old baby and nothing is ever a problem. I cannot recommend New Tico Ashfield enough.

A bizzare find in Ashfield but surprisingly good food which was confirmed by the fact the restaurant was packed out on a Thursday night at 8.30pm. The food was solid mexican (they have an excellent home made chilli) and the prices were reasonable. The service by the owner made it a really good evening!

Went in on a cold Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised by the inviting warmth of the owner and the modest decor. Both the owner Danny and chef Palito (Danny's father) were most hospitable.

The food was exceptional. Ingredients were fresh and the balance of flavours were tantilising. I would recommend going on a weekday as it can get busy towards the end of the week. Make sure you ask for the authentic chilean dishes such as the special homemade chile sauce and salad (if you would like more chilean dishes, please consider going on a Sunday where you can order traditional homemade empanadas and caramel desserts).

I personally believe that the poor reviews previously posted were by patrons who thought that this restaurant is Mexican (I understand that the name can be misleading), however, the owners are Chilean and do fantastic south american dishes. Everything is made fresh, such as the sangria. Please know that there is no mince meat served here. It is only the best slow cooked meat which is then lovingly shredded the traditional way.

If you are looking for cheap food court mexican food please look elsewhere. I highly recommend New Tico's!

I recently went there with my wife, we are locals and have been meaning to try to it but it never seemed inviting enough. I was impressed with the service and how attentive the waiter was, the interior is basic but allows a comfy and homing atmosphere. The prices are way to high for the quality and amount of food, it was very basic. I know it is a family run restaurant and not advertising fine dining but the food needs to be improved and not so sloppy and basic. The nachos was covered in sauce with a hand full off chips and The sangria was the best part of the meal. I would go back there for the sangria and try another dish off the menu just to see if it does improve. But I know I could make it better from home or even a pub nachos for $10 is worth my vote. I do not recommended this place to anyone who like mexican food because it is not the place to go for it.

We came for dinner the night of the royal wedding. Only one other couple in the restaurant, who were regulars, so along with the parents who cook and the son who does the waiting, we all ended up watching the TV together!

There aren't as many options to make things vegetarian here as at other Mexican places, but what we had was good. My husband had the vegetarian dinner, and I had a stuffed capsicum with a burrito. More beans would have been nice, but it was all tasty (and unhealthy, of course!). A highlight was a very strong feta-ish cool dip that came with the meal.

I thought the prices were a little higher than normal, but the food was nice, freshly prepared, and the waiter was very friendly! It's very much a family affair. We'll come back, I'm sure if we ask they will do bean versions of things for us, it's that kind of friendly place.

Me and my girlfriend are regulars at New Tico and have never left disappointed.
We have tried pretty much everything on the menu and are yet to decide what our favourite dish is. We even had my dads 50th birthday here and within our group (18 people) did not receive a single complaint.

This is family run restaurant serving excellent and authentic Mexican food.
The service is fabulous, friendly and helpful. The place is very simply furnished, so not the venue for a special occasion. But the food is so good that we travel from Darlinghurst to eat here.

I love this place. We live down the road and come regularly. Can't beat the cheese dip to start and fajitas to share for mains, washed down with lots of sangria. Yummo.

(P.S. as other reviewers mention this is a small local eatery and not fine dining of any sort but it is a friendly, welcoming and delicious place to eat).
