Don't be fooled by the neon lights outside. This is a really classy restaurant. The staff are more than attentive and not in a pushing you out the door way but genuinely wanting to help way. They were very helpful with my vegan/gluten intolerant needs which was wonderful. They even had vegan oyster (mushroom based) sauce! Really great food, atmosphere and service. It's pricey for chinese food but it is very special.

(June 2010) Revisited Neptune Palace after a long while. We ended up ordering 3 quite similar dishes, the trout in banana leaf, scallops, and crispy boneless duck all had the same turmeric and coconut sauce. It's absolutely delicious (especially the duck, that's my high recommendation of the day) but we should have ordered for more variation. The roti chennai was average or slightly below.
The menu has been updated since the last time I was there and I think is even more expensive. The prices are really ridiculously high here. And the vests are different and are even worse. Almost as bad as the wallpaper. Consider the awful colours as entertainment. With an entertainment card and 25%, it makes the place better value, and there are some standout dishes.
(April 2006) I think that the decor is quite tacky and garish and so are the waiters'vests! But that's part of the fun. The first time I went here for a quick pre-theatre meal, the food was a 10, the beef rendang and scallops in turmeric were perfection. When I went back with a few friends, the appetizers were great, the dry fried okra very nice and the soft shell crab yummy. But the rendang wasn't as good. I think I'd give the food 8.5. It's pricey for Asian food but it is very good. Worth a try, I'd say.

I used to work around here and ordered dinner for our team here numerous times when I had to work overtime. The dishes are very flavoursome, very unhealthy though so I wouldn't recommend indulging here too often. You can see and taste the oil. Delivery was very fast and sometimes the food would come to us cold. Quite pricey, luckily it was paid by work.

Neptunes Palace is a delicious place to have Chinese/Malaysian food. It's a bit pricy though. It's always a favourite of mine and will continually return.
Seafood Sun Chow Bow, Turmeric Chicken, Salt and Pepper Squid are always my favourite. Yummy yummy.

I've been here many times. As a halal eater I think they make the best mongolian lamb and Kapitan chicken. Service is very efficient. The seating is a bit out dated. Price is expensive but I guess that's what you expect for the city. Not a place you could go often unless you win the lotto.

Fantastic good. Love going here. No view but that doesn't matter. You go here for the food. Fast service. Yum.

The food was really amazing, the service was fast and they were always asking if we needed more drinks. The decor of the place was a little dated and the restaurant has no views so you go to enjoy each others company and the delicious food.

Sunday night at circular quay and the choices are slim. But we chose the malaysian styles from the menu and they were all delicious. Sambal udang surprisingly had okra and it worked really well. Kelantan chicken was a hoot served in a coconut shell. Prices were the only drawback.

This restaurant is one of the stalwarts of the Sydney CBD corporate lunch trail. I have visted probably 10 times with a number of different people and it's amazing how many people come here and simply allow the waiter to order for them. They have a number of house specials that just seem to get ordered every time I go there, seafood, san choy bow, rustt motor bike, wagyu beef, capitan chicken. The service is always very effective but sometimes they can serve too many dishes too quickly (as happened to me yesterday). I have never had a bad experience here and never had a bad dish either.

The retro look of the upstairs dining area is a little over the top, we were seated in a quiet corner for an early meal on a Friday night. The service was very prompt and attentive, verging on over the top, the waiters stand in the middle of the room watching all of the tables. Good to get things cleared quickly but you have 3 or more sets of eyes staring at you constantly which is a bit of a put off.
Ordered the duck pancakes (very nice - lots of meat), at $24 for 4 it was pretty expensive and this continued on with the remainder of the meal. Had the honey king prawns ($32) which were big and there were at least a dozen, very sweet but a nice dish. Had one of the Malaysian chicken dishes and it was solid, nice chunks of real chicken (rare at any Chinese restaurant) in a slightly chilli sauce.
The plain fried rice was good enough, $18 is a bit steep though. A side of roti bread was average, chewy and quite dough like, not recommended. Had a couple of tsing tao beers and the wife a glass of the shiraz, these were priced ok and bought out promptly with a cold glass for the beer.
Lucky the entertainment card bought the cost down, this is a nice place but just a bit on the high end with prices.
