Great cosy little restaurant in a fantastic location. The main portions were tasty and large. Service was good but lacked a smile here and there. Overall I would definitely go back and recommend this place to others.
This is a nicely decorated little restaurant that has its own style. The food was average but the service was great, and the atmosphere was warm and cosy.
Food was very nice, definitely reminded me of my visit to Poland, but I too walked away feeling that I paid too much for what I got. More than $20 for a small schnitzel, when you can get a really big portion at a German restaurant for less than $20. I think their menu could be expanded a bit too. Also a bit disappointing that they are not serving Polish beer, which really goes well with the food. (although place is licensed and byo). I'm Polish and I am very excited that we have a restaurant in Sydney, but by the same token, I had higher expectations, when I went there.
Loved the place, food and service were excellent! My husband took me there last night for a romantic dinner for two, what a great choice he made! We started with smalec and rye bread, OMG, yes we were licking our fingers.
For our entree, my husband started with mixed pierogi on the bed of tomato and capsicum sauce, I had flachki, both dishes were very tasty. We also had kompot, which tasted like the one I used to have at my gramma's when I was a little girl.
For our mains, we ordered ribs and pork lion schnitzel, again excellent choices! The flavours of both dishes were second to none. My husband is lebanese, he loved the traditional, home made like, food.
By now we were pretty full, however, the temptation was too strong and we ordered the cheesecake and kosciosko ice cream as our desserts, delicious end to our feast! I must also say here, the service was very attentive and accurate. There was this gorgeous blonde waitress, who assured all our needs are met (if not exceeded) and this tall waiter for whom nothing was too bigger ask. The value for money, just right. We will definitely be back! What a great night it was.
Dined last evening... table for two. Lovely room and well heated. Bart the proprietor is attentive and charming. My Polish partner assures me that the food is "typically Polish."
We started with Zurek, a sour rye broth with smoked sausage - delicious. For our mains I ordered the pork loin stuffed with prunes and found it be a lighter dish than expected and nicely prepared. My partner ordered the rabbit, which was a special dish of the evening. The rabbit was tender and sweet... quite delicious and a generous portion.
For desserts we ordered the Chopin cake, a light mound of frozen cake with roasted almonds and chocolate... a light delight. My friend ordered the cheese cake, which was served slightly warm with berries. Together with coffe, quite delicious. Total meal for two came to between $90 and $100. Recommended for home style cooking in a warm and inviting room.
Was great when they first opened, now it seems they can't be bothered and by 9 pm and edging you out the door. Food is ok, service is disappointing. They served our main courses immediately after they picked up the half eaten entree plates, when we told them not to rush. Then instead of birnging a cake for my friend birthday, I politely called them to ask if they made cakes, they said yes, so $40 later they served us a really bad old Michels Patisserie cake. Not recommended.
Well, we had a great meal. Filling, warm, tasty and reasonably priced, good atmosphere, nice young men as waiters. I have nothing to complain about and am going back with family this weekend. This place is really worth a try I think.
What a disappointment, the food was awful, dry, flavourless, overpriced, small and obviously reheated and old. The waiter was unhelpful and the kitchen staff's knowledge of her trade and Polish cuisine was very very very limited. Polish pickles consisted of 4 girkins from a jar which I was told are very expensive and that's why the rest of my meal was so tiny.
