Aha, now I've been to Sydney’s only sustainable steakhouse! It was end of the year spoil the chef who works hard. I suggested we go try this place especially because I know ling likes a steak and as we are mostly vego I thought it definitely on the cards to indulge in some flesh, and boy oh boy did we indulge. We started at the jamon bar and we had the 12 month old the 18 month old and the kangaroo all washed down with a few glasses of the always appealing shampoo of the moment (verve) what a blast, you could really tell the difference in the meat with the ageing, and yes you could taste the acorns.

Great value for money but would have preferred real bread over the pizza "bread" time to indulge in some tapas. We had the zucchini flowers which contrary to the review by SMH wasn't wearing the batter like a cheap suit, what a shame we were looking so forward to tasting "off the rack" but clearly they need to pay their reviewers less money, jokes aside fantastic next we had the chorizo and prawns all were really generous and well balanced textures and flavours, great chilli spikes without overpowering the dish all were delicious.

Main time we started with the lamb 2 ways, perfectly rested and cooked loin but for us the highlight was the combo of slow roasted shoulder paired with cauliflower gratin, pure silk a testament to the skills of the chef. Next was the "kona crust" steak which is coffee and Szechuan pepper. I know we were giggling like schoolgirls, can I have a decaf my chef asked jokingly, but were laughing out the other side of our fast filling gobs when it arrived as suggested as med/rare (we both eat blue) perfectly rested and out of this world. The crust was awesome very hard to describe something that crunchy, that is so weird, yet so satisfying well done guys!! Dessert time..we shared the mix plate and gorgonzola cheese plate washed down with a great little sticky. All the sweet things were great and were as we expected after the great food we were served prior, what a night. We shared everything and got out for under 300 bucks less tip. We are now gonna converts and believe that MUMU should be on your list of places to go this year, go go go.

WOW! Note: This is for MuMu Pizza, not the grill. The best pizza my wife and I have ever had. The Spinach with Chimi Churi is such a whirl of flavours, and the mushroom is right up there as well. No hesitation in going back to this place, great friendly service and quickly baked ready for collection.

Unfortunately, it's more of a hole in the wall joint, designed for take away/delivery. There is a small table outside that you could eat at, looking onto the pedestrian/courtyardy area of crows nest which I imagine would be quite nice on a warm summer's evening. But it's all about the pizza, absolutely perfect.

I guess you could say the Friday evening with friends started off on a sour note when we decided to go out for gourmet pizza which had been highly recommended to me. I booked a table on the phone number above, but little did I know that the number is for both Mumu Pizza and Mumu Grill, and the kind person on the end of the phone did not ask which restaurant we were wishing to dine. So on arrival we found ourself with a table reserved in the grill, with a lovely waitress stating we can leave if we want to and not to feel embarassed about it, it happens all the time!

My friends and I decided to stay, and we did indeed enjoy our meals. The fig special with goats cheese wrapped in prosciutto was to die for. The bangers and mash were a little disappointing. My friends seemed to enjoy their steaks. The staff were polite, and the food was prompt, but I was not overly impressed. After ordering cocktails at the same time as our meals, we had already finished our entree before having to ask our waiter if the cocktails were coming (considering the bar staff were just standing around chatting, I assumed our waiter had forgotten to submit our order).

For this we got no apology which was what disappointed me most. Overall, the food is great and it was a good night out with the girls, but my next return will be for the pizza!

We won a gift voucher for MuMu and were keen to compare our experience to the ones posted here, the good and the bad.

We booked lunch and due to Sydney traffic were 30 minutes late but a call to MuMu on the way was appreciated and we were greeted like old friends which was a nice touch as we'd travelled from the Blue Mountains to Crows Nest. As it was I had to drive around for another 15 minutes looking for parking. Crows Nest is a shocker!

Once seated by the large window with its view of interesting characters coming and going we were promptly attended to by Brendan who was never far away and we had absolutely no complaints about the service at all. The small but interesting choices on the menu focuses on the steaks for which MuMu has built a reputation and we were keen to see if the hype was warranted.

I opted for the Aged Sirloin and Miss Lizzy chose the Scotch Filet. Sides of grilled mushrooms and a salad completed our mains. So many places skimp on the side salads so we ordered 2 but Brendan suggested one would be adequate and he was right. A nice touch we thought.

The steaks were cooked to perfection, just as we'd asked, and we both agreed that the hype and advertising about the steaks at MuMu were spot on. We like our steaks on the well-done side of medium and they were tender and tasty and frankly best we've had in a long time.

MuMu is not cheap and the voucher certainly made the bill less painful but when we compared it to the $58 per head at the very ordinary bistro at the Shangri-La Hotel we'd been to a few weeks earlier, MuMu was great value.

As I said, we'd won a voucher and maybe that would make a difference in some places, as to how you were treated, but on leaving, owner/chef Craig Macindoe made a point of coming out to meet us and ask how everything had been. We told him we'd be back it was so good, and we meant it.

I was at MUMU on a saturday evening, the place was jam packed and it's easy to see why. The most amazing steak I've ever eaten no kidding. We also sat outside in a pleasant garden style area. Our server was also brilliant, very enthusiastic about the restaurant and it's sustainability concept, a really friendly guy (and not so bad to look at if I'm being honest. A great place to eat, definitely a return visit!

So I'm really torn to try and write a review about MUMU, basically i've been over 10 times and the food is always spot on. Fantastic steaks-especially the sirloin and their amazing roast garlic mustard! I've had some issues with the service from the manager (I assume) which just isn't good enough, so I won't be back. It's a shame as I considered myself a good customer spending over 200 everytime and the food is so great.

We used to have a canadian waiter who was just an absolute angel and completely made the restaurant. It was always a really pleasant night out so long as he was around but he's gone now. There have been quite a few incidents but most recent was I requested a booth as my mum, who was dining with us, is quite obviously very unwell with cancer. The seats at Mumu are atrocious, you need to use your muscles to hold yourself up the whole meal or you will simply slide down.

Sitting back in your chair is absolutely impossible. My mum doesn't have the strength to do that all night. I was told sorry those booths are for people that booked earlier than you-despite the fact we have been there so many times and the server knew that. I was ok with it until the 2 booths remained empty throughout our entire 3 course meal. I feel like it would have been a small sacrifice on their part for good customers. We also spent ages waiting for plates to be cleared etc. basically the service has just slipped away.

It's a real shame about the seating and service because the food is spot on! I can't go back there anymore after that so will have to head elsewhere where the service is always decent.

The food is just ok, but not extraordinary. The steak (scotch fillet) is fine, but nothing special. The ribs is using home made BBQ sauce, some people may like it, but I found its taste, let's say interesting. I was hoping to find something comparable to Meat and Wine/Hurricanes/Tony Romas in the North Shore, but it fell short of them.

The place itself is quite nice, though I was sitting in the better lit table, I'm not sure about the people further inside. Service is fine, don't need to wait too long to order.

We were seated outside in the chilly wind even though there were plenty of empty tables inside. We had a 6 mth old and it was freezing! Lighting was terrible with only a single puny candle to light the table. Waiter ignored us and wasn't interested in taking our food order after we ordered drinks. Took over an hour for us to place an order an get our food. Food was not too bad (small portions though) but the service (or lack of) made sure we're never going back there again.

The waitress forgot our drinks order. My partner's slow roast pork was as tough and dry as old boots and my slow cooked rib eye was very rare (usual for something slow cooked I would've thought) and tough. Even trying to leave was painful after asking for the bill, the waiter forgot to process it and bring it to our table. How could a restaurant get it wrong on so many levels? Its only saving grace is it's manager who was very attentive and apologetic about the food.

Been here 3 times and each time it has had something to disappoint. Basically they seem to have staff problems - each time we have had staff on their second or third night who clearly have no idea about the menu and sometimes clearly have not worked a restaurant floor before. The food has been hit and miss although the steaks have been good each time. Bit expensive for what you get though.
