Great service, cosy dining room and hearty food. Try the lamb, you'll shank us later.

Wow.. Simply Wow. I live just a minute away from Mulligan's but never had the courage to go and try a meal at an Irish restaurant. Last Thursday I went to Mulligan's with my housemates (one of them being Irish. That's how we ended up there. Thanks Miriam). But I have to tell you it was more than a pleasant surprise. I loved each and every bite of it. I could not stop myself from hogging to glory. At the end of the meal we were so full that we had no place for dessert.

Beautiful home cooked hearty food in an awesome down to earth homely restaurant. An evening with special people (my housemates) does not get any better than that.

To top it all they had a Psychic at the restaurant, Annie... I had never been to a psychic before so it was an awesome experience. About 50% of what she said was quite true. But the Psychic dimension to the evening made it even more special. Because we then came and discussed it in the group and had a great laugh at time too.

The menu is simple and easy to understand, they also have specials for every evening. For entree, we had the Boxty Pancakes, Chicken & Mushroom Parcels, Garlic Prawns and the black and white Pudding. Loved every bit of it. I could not fault anything there. Decent portions. Nice and hot. And what was even better was I had never tried any of those previously.

For mains we had The special for the day which was the Lamb Shank (shredded ofcourse) Guinness pie, Bacon and Cabbage and the Irish Stew. Beautiful, simple, tasty and "massive" portions. We enjoyed the meal alot and struggled to finish it.

Now that I know Mulligan's is fantastic. I think I will visit the restaurant quite often. The Wait Staff were also excellent. Always attentive to our needs and made us very comfortable. And yes, they were from Ireland.

All in all Mulligans is a winner. I bet you will love the experience of dining there. Highly Recommended.

A Mulligan, by definition, most simply put, is a "do-over." Hit a bad shot? Take a mulligan and replay that stroke. This restaurant certainly lived up to it's name when I visited there last night.

With a large party of 8 we were seated at a very spacious table upstairs with a balcony for use if one wanted to have a cigarrette.

The ambience of the place was ok. Yes, it did bring up memories of Ireland. Yet I failed to grasp why an establishment that charges $45 per head would want to go as far as showing mouldy water-logged walls to give that nostalgia to their customers. Don't get me started on the fold up, vinly covered seats.

The service was prompt and the staff were very attentive so I cannot complain about that. However, the amount of times we were asked whether we wanted to sit with a clairvoyant was a bit ridiculous. The clairvoyant would be a drawcard for many, and I was excited to see what they had to say, however, the pricetag of $20/sitting with the clairvoyant put me off. Once again, if you are going to charge $45/head then I feel this should be included as part of the experience.

The entrees came swiftly and were devoured swiftly. When a menu advertises deep fried camambert you think of big, oily, cheesey goodness however the dish that was served was 4 measley balls of camambert which left me wanting more.

The mains took much longer to come out. I ordered the pie and the pie was good. That's about all I can say though. It was a nice pie. My friends ordered the Christmas Special of turkey and ham and I felt sad for them, as it came out with a few slices of meat on a mountain of mashed potato.

All in all, my experience of this place was that of an overpriced Sydney bistro. There are many places in Sydney that we could have gone and enjoyed the same meal + drinks for $20 each, however, this evening cost us over $500 for eight.

Flights to Ireland are about $1,500 return right now though so I guess if you want the Irish experience without going to Ireland then this is definitely value for money.

Can I take a mulligan please?

Had a beautiful meal at Mulligan’s last week, it really is like going into your living room at home. There was a group of 6 of us, we all got something different for our mains, shared a few starters and desserts. For starters I got the black & white pudding which melted in my mouth. I got the bacon and cabbage then for my main, to die for! There was a very generous serving of bacon with white cabbage and sauce.

I wanted to take some home for my dinner on Sunday it was that good! As I am a huge fan of proper homemade chips, I opted to have these on the side instead of mash – they were just like the proper chips at home. I shared a banoffe pie with one of the other girls, truly amazing!

Eileen & the girls there made us so welcome, the wine was flowing & the chat plentiful. I've been now numerous times and each time surpasses the last. My work colleagues are all keen to go so I have booked a table of 25 for mid-December... my mouth is watering! Highly highly recommended!

Wow, what a fun night! Not only have I been telling everyone I meet today what a great night I had at Mulligans, I've jumped on here to tell anyone that will listen!

Together with a group of 3 others I went to Mulligans last night to celebrate one of the partys birthday. We had heard of the great reviews, homely atmosphere, and great food so we were excited to experience "Mulligan's Irish Restaurant" first hand!

The ambience was so homely and welcoming on arrival, candle light, traditional Irish memorabilia, and Irish music playing. The menu all looked great so we decided to all get something different so we could all sample each others! I had the Deep Fried Camembert with a Chili Plum sauce to start, it was the perfect way to start my meal, great flavours and not too filling.

For main I had the Chicken, with Bacon, Stuffing and Mashed Potato...omg I could live on that meal alone! The special of lamb shanks, braised and served with a red wine jus and mashed potato was unreal too, fell off the bone.
The evening was so much fun, our host Eileen seems to be a very social and lovable person so we were kept entertained all evening, keeping us up to date on the goings on in Ireland, a few good jokes, and funny stories!

We all visited the fortune teller through the evening, and had good fun comparing our future! For dessert the birthday boy was treated to a sparkler candle on his dessert, and was sung happy birthday!

Overall for the food, homely atmosphere, and entertaining host we were more than happy with the bill of less than $250 for four adults who enjoyed starters, main course and dessert, and a drink. Keep up the good work. We are already planning our next visit! Thanks.

I had booked a table (4 people) about a week prior. We were placed at a table that was literally under the stair case (two of our party had to be careful not to hit their heads when standing up). The seating was very cramped and uncomfortable after a very short time. The food was very ordinary. Tree of our party ordered the Black Velvet steak. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a JUS of some type. The steak was quite small and the cooking instructions were all but ignored. They all came out well done. I made the mistake of ordering some fried mash potatoes (under some other name?), this, with the bed of mash potatoes ensured that I had my fill of starchy carbs for the next week or so.

The other of our group ordered Barramundi with Champagne sauce, she later commented that she was not sure whether she had eaten pork or fish. The desserts were adequate but nothing too fancy (apple pie and ice cream/cream). The service was reasonably efficient and friendly, the wines were reasonably priced. The dinner for 4 came to $250. Even though this may not be too expensive, the value for money was quite poor. I hope that the owners/chef pick up their game and try to give better value for money.

My partner and I have eaten here for a few years and have always enjoyed everything about the place. A recent Saturday night though, I'll get the not so good comments out of the way first. I made a booking for 8 pm. We arrived on time, there was no table for us, so we were encouraged by the owner Eileen to go and have a drink and come back in 15 minutes. We did this without complaint. We got back to the restaurant 15 minutes later and again there was no table for us. Again it was implied go and have another drink. So at close to 8.45 pm we are seated in the restaurant.

The food as always was lovely, the service friendly and quick. Disappointingly though no one acknowledged that we had a long wait, despite having a booking was a disappointment. It would have been nice to to be given a glass of wine to say "thank you so much for you patience".

We will go back as hopefully this was an isolated experience. Suggestion though to Eileen, the room you have upstairs which is not used on busy Friday or Saturday nights, have some lovely tables and chairs up there, sell your punters a glass of wine, you win as you are getting extra revenue, your customers aren't expected to walk two blocks to the Rose Hotel and everyone is the happier.

The best roast turkey I have had at a restaurant, amazing flavour. Loved the freshly made wheaten bread and butter, delicious. Desserts are really good, the bannofee pie and the white choc bread and butter pudding especially. Lovely staff. A busy, noisy, warm and friendly place. A fun night out with a group, especially seeing the Psychics then comparing notes!

The food at Mulligans is honest, generous and above all comforting. I started with the trout pate and was very pleased with both the texture and flavour of the dish. I was glad to have picked a relatively light entree when I was presented with a large lamb shank on a mountain of potato mash. It is the specialty of the house and the meat was tender and tasty. Definitely recommended.

The vegetables served as a side were plain and boring but a good accompaniment to the rich sauce served with the shank. My partner had the lamb stew and it was good without being spectacular.

By the time you get to dessert expect to be pretty full! I suspect this is why they only offer two course menus. Nonetheless, I shared a dessert with my partner and was glad I did. The sticky date pudding was deliciously moist and covered in decadent caramel sauce.

On the down side I thought that the tables were a bit squished and the service a bit abrupt.

My husband and I recently traveled to Sydney to celebrate our wedding anniversary and ate at Mulligans. It was a wonderful experience and worth every penny. We arrived for our reservation a little early and were served complimentary homemade bread before even placing our orders. We were seated at a corner table which was very romantic, right beside the open log fire.

Our wait staff were so very attentive and had a great knowledge of the food and specials. The lamb shank is the main attraction and it did not disappoint. Particular highlights included the boxty pancakes, fresh fish (my husbands choice), all were expertly done and very tasty. All dishes on the menu have been traced back to some sort of Irish reference, something we thought was very impressive.

In addition, we were treated to an extra dessert for our anniversary that made the whole evening very special (the desserts are to die for especially Seans apple crumble). The value here is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves good quality Irish food in a great little Irish restaurant. We will come back again and again when we get a chance, a hidden gem.
