Ate here on a busy Sat night and service was a little slow but not desperately so. The Peking Egg Rolls were excellent, the Singaporean Chilli Chicken was a fraction too sweet and the prok ribs and special fried rice were both very good. A good place with quite a few dishes a little better than your local Chinese.
On the pricey side for Chinese, our parents always get a bit pernickety whenever we take them. But, Mr Chow's has the best duck in Sydney. I love both the tea smoked and the peking versions here. Also the salt fish fried rice.
The restaurant itself is comfortable and the service attentive. I like the varied mix of people that converge here to simply enjoy great chinese food. One table will be having beers and crab, the next a romantic dinner, the next large family gatherings of foodaholics.
Mr Chow's peking restaurant offers great wine selection and food. It is one of the chinese restaurant that doesn't have a noisy atmosphere. I've been there many times and I always order the Tea Smoked Duck and Saltee egg soft shell crab.
I love Mr Chow's restaurant and would rate this as my all time favourite Chinese restaurant. Try the tea-smoked Peking Duck and the salt and pepper prawns, you won't be disappointed!
The service is always helpful and polite. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and tastfully decorated. Can't wait to go back!
Used this website to find a good review of a restaurant and decided on Mr Chow's what a mistake. It said that the restaurant had some sort of view over Darling Harbour as we were visiting from interstate, we thought this would be good. The view is looking over some roof tops to a isolated section of Darling Harbor. Food was good but the service was A JOKE! We had a vegetarian in the party and asked for some of that food to come out first with the entree.
An hour and a half later nothing arrived! After asking waiting staff on three separate occasions we gave up and left after only part of our meal was supplied.
For what we had it was very expensive for chinese at $58 for the tea smoked duck, we thought this was expensive. Would not recommend this restaurant AT ALL.
We've longed for Peking Chinese food like this for the 10 years we've been in Sydney and wish we'd found out about Mr Chow's earlier. Great to be one of the only non Chinese eating there - you know it has to be good when that is the case.
Mermaid's Tresses as entree is one of my all time favourite dishes and was as good as hoped for, we had the crispy duck with pancakes and shredded beef too = both wonderful dishes. So much to choose from on the menu, will be back soon to try more.
It is great food - especially peking duck. Even better since the renovations. Gets very noisy when there are heaps of punters but it gives the place a bit of character. Service is quite helpful and will have a laugh.
It's an absolute find in this end of town. Food choices are discussed, recommendations made, served with great care. Recommend both the Peking duck and snow crab with ginger and eschalots. Both were fantastic.
