My wife and I popped for lunch after a movie @ the Ritz this afternoon. From the specials board we both chose the Beef Daube Pie with Chocolate Mousse for $16. The menu had the price @ $20. The waiter, a very polite young French fellow, was surprised that the board was so wrong and he appropriately charged us the $16.

The pie was 'homemade' and pretty good albeit the meat a bit dry, but I didn't mind that too much. It came with a green salad dressed with a good quality balsamic vinegar. However, the mousse appeared to be a little old being thick and dry on top. It tasted Ok. The coffee was not as good as it should have been. However, it was a nice place to sit on a sunny afternoon.

Overall, our experience didn't convince us to return for an evening meal.

Loved the service from this talented french waiter (can't recall his name). I thought we were back in St Germain. Food was delicious and choice of french wines not too expensive. My girlfriend and I had a very enjoyable time.

I'm french! I came for a valentine's day, the food was amazing, but I could see that the service wasn't good and the waitress had too much stress. Furthermore, I saw some people who have had roses but nothing for us. Finally, my fiancee was a bit disappointed. I recommend this restaurant for the food and nothing else.

Great for an enjoyable, romantic night. Quieter than surrounding restaurants (though we went on a Monday night). Lovely French decor. Service was friendly and attentive.

Had the scallop/snail/chorizo/mussel entree plate - decent. Duck Magret - Sweet and moist. Lamb with raisins and fig - the hero dish for us for the night - perfectly cooked, lots of interesting tastes. Didn't get to try dessert.

$91 for 1x Entree and 2x Mains so its reasonably expensive. We BYO Wine. Would go back but for special occasions.

After dining in many French and other restaurants around the world I can honestly say the meal my partner and I just had at Montparnasse, Randwick is without doubt the worst I have had by far. The main was overcooked and scarcely large enough to qualify for an entree at best. A very disappointing meal for our anniversary and cheese on toast at home would have been more gourmet.

We had our work Christmas party at Montparnasse and it was excellent, from the food, to the room (beautifully and tastefully decorated) to the service and lovely music. We had a private room and everybody had a great time! The staff couldn't have done more to accommodate us. They were excellent and very patient! Highly recommend Montparnasse. It's a little piece of Paris in Randwick!

We went here for lunch just before a movie, we told them that we had a movie to go to and not much time on our hands and they said they will be able to have us there on time. The only problem was after snails and french onion soup and a glass of wine we wanted more! so movie was given up to a long lunch.

Yes this place is owned by a french woman and that's pretty much the only french related thing to the restaurant. Had the steak frites, the steak is not even cooked the french way, it tasted like how a rsl club would cook it, very disappointed. The creme brulee was good though. I would not come back to this place, if a french restaurant can't get a steak right, what else could be good from the menu... Nothing! Will not return.

Worthwhile putting a comment for this cute French restaurant. We've been treated link kings and the food was really good bistro one. Even if BYO we decided to go with their wines, mostly french and reasonably priced. We will be back.
