Very westernised Thai food, the dishes were either sickeningly sweet or completely bland. Dishes that are meant to contain chilli like the red curry and pad prik king didn't seem to have any heat whatsoever. The food was like the thai food that you get at food courts. Definitely the most boring thai food I've had.

Always good Thai with extremely friendly staff and the two dishes I recommend are Duck Pla salad and the Beef Crying Tiger, both are very good.

2nd Time I have been here. The first time the meals were Ok but boring. The 2nd time we went for a quick meal, Duck with chilli and basil was so salty that we could not eat it. Told the waitress who took the dish away we thought we would be getting another duck dish to replace the inedible dish that was taken away, not so,because we had eaten some of it - of course we had eaten some of it otherwise how would we know that it was too salty. No discount on the bill. The staff were quite rude about it. Will not be going back.

Good local Thai. Where I come after a surf. Excellent value and fresh food.

Best Thai I've had in Sydney. Great food, great service and decent price. The slow cooked panang beef is to die for. I live outside of "the shire", but this place would definitely be worth the trip. This little gem outshines anything I've had where I live in Newtown - which has more Thai choices than you can poke a stick at.

Happened on this restaurant after a day at the beach. Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and value. Servings were generous. Service was pleasant and despite a large crowd dining, we were not hurried.

Pretty standard suburban Thai. Maybe better than average, but certainly not "the best Thai in Australia" as others have claimed.

My boyfriend and I tried this place a few months ago and have been back several times since. The food cannot be faulted and by far the best Thai food we have tried in Sydney. Having already been to Thailand, the food at Montien comes very close and maybe even better than what we have tried over there.
It was the first time we tried coconut rice which is absolutely amazing! Every time we go, we can't go pass the chicken penang curry and we always make sure we get the pork dim sum and chicken spring rolls, both equally amazing. We will definitely continue to make the 25 minute drive to eat here. Yum!

We've just moved back to Cronulla and thought we would try this restaurant as it has the best rating of all the Thai restaurants in Cronulla. However, we were really really disappointed - I'm scared to think how bad the other Thai restaurants in Cronulla must be if this is considered the best.
My partner ordered Tom Yum Chicken Soup to start and this was edible but was not great - just boring and a bit flavourless. For mains we had Green chicken curry and this was so mild and with no depth of flavour, but was really really sweet - I felt like I was eating a weird chicken dessert.
We also ordered a "spicy" noodle dish and this was the worst of all. The only flavour we could taste was charcoal bits from the wok. It was reasonable spicy but just tasted really really bad. Service was ok and our orders were taken reasonably fast. Our meals also came out reasonably fast.
We love Thai food and eat it all over Sydney but would definitely not go back or recommend this place to anyone and am absolutely shocked by all the other positive reviews.
