6/10. OK but you won't get blown away by this place. Not saying its not worth visiting but how anyone can say the food is 9 or 10 out of 10 can't get out very much.
This restaurant is tucked away downstairs from the main bar and I must say it's a great little find. The tapas entree was fantastic, a little bit of this and that, (depending on season), just to get the tastebuds rolling.....followed by the most amazing snapper for our mains. Dessert was again outstanding although by this time we were full to the rim !!!
Overall the staff are very attentive and are polite, nothing was to much for them, it's just the little things such as filling your glass of water when not asked makes this dining experience very special. We will definitely return with friends.
Went on a sat nite with a mate for a quick meal. I had the 300gr rump steak, with fries and salad, the meat was cooked to perfection with hardly any fat. I was really surprised by the quality given the meal is only $13, I've had a lot worse in 'steak houses' and paid $30+. It was very busy and loud, being sat nite so we ended up eating in the tab section of the pub. Will definitely be going back.
Ate there on a quiet Friday, service was efficient without being overly friendly. Food took a while to come out, lamb was overcooked and tough, the grilled fish was covered in oil and tasteless. Would not return.
New owners, new style, classy and great feel. The food was excellent and the service was great - friendly and efficient staff. Great way to spend a laid back fun sunday night to ease you into a new week.
We ate here on a Saturday afternoon when the pub looked quite busy but the restaurant was empty. For this reason, the ambience wasn't great but they did have some good music playing and the dining room is very nice with a leafy aspect giving an outdoor dining feel to it. I'd expect it might be better on a busier late evening.
My partner loved his fish and especially the creamy mash on which it was served. Warm bread rolls were served before the meal which is a nice touch. Unfortunately my gnocchi wasn't that great. It was homemade and very doughy, the sauce was lovely and there was lots of it which probably not meant to get with gnocchi. We had a 2 for 1 on the mains so I didn't mind so much. Service was good but of course it wasn't busy. I'd probably go back to the bar if in the area again because of good cheaper menu and was much busier.
I recently organised my work Christmas function in the bistro and can honestly say I was surprised at just how great both the food and service were. I've been here many times for a drink and general catch up with mates but had never thought about going there for a meal.
The staff were very accomodating to my Greek boss who was fasting, and knocked up a plate of calamari with no fuss. We were well looked after the whole afternoon. Would highly recommend this place for a nice meal.
