Always take away, as it is cheaper, and I love the salad/chips that it comes with!
Dine in may be tight as it is always packed. Tartare sauce is beautiful!
Theres still a buzz about being called from the pub, into tiny little place and being perched on the stools squeezed around compact tables. And its still a good, honest fish place. But the edge has definitely come off, while everything is fine, it is also quite unremarkable. For the setting, it is a tad expensive for a really no-nonsense experience. Would I go again? While before it was high on my radar, it certainly wouldn't be my first choice anymore with so many interesting places in the vicinity.

Wow, I am glad that I didn't read the reviews below before I went to Mohr Fish on Saturday. To be perfectly honest, I was looking for The Smokehouse and ended up in the wrong place. We shared some oysters, plump, briney and as fresh as you could ask for. For mains, my friend had the tuna cooked rare and I had a fish fillet with mashed potato and salad. The plates were warm, the service friendly and the food simple and excellent. You have to call it as you find it and it was very good. 14/20. A good reliable standard.
For 25 bucks you expect some excellent fish and chips, but what I got was quite the opposite. The chips (frozen) were soggy and greasy, but not nearly as greasy as the oil soaked over cooked flathead fillets. It was obvious that the oil in their fryers as not hot enough, and the fish was over cooked as a result of trying to make the batter crisp.
The decor of this 'restaurant' suggests that the food must be excellent for the money they charge, but the food falls down well short of making this meal enjoyable, in fact I felt sick afterwards. My advice if you're outside this place, just eat in the pub next door.
Mohr fish was one of the best finds years ago when I first came here. The food has gone down hill and the price has went up. Still an ok place but if you been here 10 years ago you would be disappointed these days. I think the original owners have left and now its going downhill.
Went with high expectations but the food was really dreadful. The service was completely confused and we ended up with food that looked nothing like what we ordered. Coasting on its reputation.
Seriously good fish and chips. Batter beautifully crispy and puffy with exploded crazy bits, tempura-style. Chips not too greasy, fluffy inside and actually taste like potatoes. Hand made tartare sauce tastes exactly that. Can't fault this food. Going back for the bouillabaise. High expectations.
The best local fish cafe! Everything is delicious, if you want to have fish and chips get it takeaway. Eating in everything from the Wahu Wahu with the fresh mango salsa to the Barramundi with Wilted Asparagus and hollandaise, great value. Eating in, it's normally around $30 a head including any shared entrees. The servings are quite big and you don't really need to order an entree if there is just two of you. I think it's great value and love that you can bring in beers from the pub across the road!
This fish and chip shop offers generous portions of skillfully cooked food in a cosy little room. I was very happy with the food and service until I was hit with the bill. Although I would happily pay $22 for a main meal, I thought it too expensive for mere fish and chips. Especially since the takeaway menu offers the same thing for $8.50. I find the difference in price difficult to account for, but if you can overlook that, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
