We used to like this place but of late it's gone downhill. Last few visits our fish was too oily and not as nice as usual. Disappointing.

By far the best fish I've had in Sydney... atmosphere was nice, I had a dory filet with grapes, pine nuts and mashed potatoes with leak... just divine ! Highly recommended.

We visit at least 3 times a month. I cannot remember having a disappointing meal. The only disappoinment is not being able to get in. Great!!!!

The lighting and size of the restaurant are completely forgotten when welcomed with mohr's waitstaff. The seafood was obviously fresh, cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious! Well done.

This is officially my favourite restaurant in Sydney and I've been going here for years. It's an unpretentious unassuming little gem with superb food, friendly staff and a warm buzz. No need to say anymore - the place speaks for itself ...oh but I should mention the chilli jam, the tartare sauce and the classy desserts!

I used to buy the takeaway fish and chips here regularly but hadn't been for a while. I must say, I was shocked at the difference. The battered fish used to be fresh, sweet white fillets of flathead. The batter was light and delicious. Last night, myself and five others ordered fish and chips and the concensus was ... and I'm being polite ... dreadful. The fish was grey, dry and very strong smelling. Probaby frozen; certainly not fresh. The batter was oily and a bit overpowering, but at least it disguised the taste of the fish. Luckily, we all had our chips to eat, though. And if the bread we'd paid for had been included in the order, we could've had that too. From arguably the best takeaway fish and chips in Sydney to the worst I've tasted in a long time. Won't be going back and neither will my friends.

Popped in on Saturday night after much deliberation on where to go out. Eventually decided on the Shakespeare Hotel in Surry Hills, as I used to live in the area. I knew that Mohr Fish was next door but had never ventured in. Often walked past on a cold dark winter night to see diners tucking into what looked like great seafood.
From the outside it looks like the sort of special place you'd find tucked away in any major city that only the locals know about. It used to be a butchers shop and retains the white tiled walls. It's small and quirky, but not to the point of being twee. The staff are very friendly and you can watch the cooks preparing your food if you sit at the stainless steel counter. You'd struggle to beat the quality of the fish and the care with which it is cooked.
The Boullabaise would feel at home in any provincial French restaurant. The King Fish fillet was succulent, moist and served on a bed of creamy mash with a chilli jam inspired by Indian and North African flavours. Perfect. If this existed in London, people would be queuing to get in.
