The overall experience with food is good, but service could've been much better, 30 minutes for a glass of water is a very long time to wait for water.

Definitely visit this restaurant if you're after a horrible night out, being served by ill-mannered staff. Food is average, the whole idea/gimmick was a replica of somewhere else anyway, except the food dropped a whole standard.

Please be aware of the sneaky 10% surcharge on weekends, which is not explained clearly through verbal communication. Of course, this is listed as a condition in size 7 font under dim light at the end of an A4 page, which I assume, most people would miss.

By the time the food was served it was cold. Sashimi wise, had a funny taste to it, also got a stomach ache after visiting the restaurant (not sure if related). Bear in mind I am asian and have eaten quite a large variety of Japanese food and sashimi, am definitely not allergic.

Some items ordered did not end up coming at all, because apparently there was a mix up and our food had been served to another room, chased it up about 3 times, was promised that the food will be delivered, which 'surprisingly', never came. Apparently they ran out of supply.

If I knew this was going to be my experience I would definitely rather pay more money to go to a restaurant and karaoke separately. In the end I paid $50+ myself, along with 6 other people, which I feel is way overpriced for what I had experienced.

    Definitely not recommended.

Food and in particular sushi and sashimi were nice and fresh. The entire experience with private rooms, touch screens and karaoke was great. The menu caters for most tastes with a large variety of food. It's a fun place for a large group. Service is not the best but they get the job done.

Poor establishment, service was slow and food was cold when received. Elsewhere is a better option.

My family and I had a very enjoyable experience at Mizuya. The food was great, prices were reasonable and I will definitely be going back. It's good to go with more people, and they even have some packages like 6 people for $198 (can order food with that $198 value) with 3 hours karaoke in the vip room where you can eat and do a bit of karaoke!

On friday, had to wait a little bit longer for food and drinks, but they were all very courteous and helpful. The only downside was the wait as they do not take reservations for the dining area (only the private rooms), we had to wait about 30 minutes on a Friday night, so keep that in mind if you decide to go!

This is definitely one of the best japanese restaurants I've been to in Sydney. I went with a group of 12 friends, had a private room and karaoke, it cost us $488.00 in total on a friday night. So I was able to get sample of a good portion of the menu.

Food: Deluxe sashimi platter for $40 was great, it even had sweet fresh scampi! Great sushis, sukiyaki etc. Their fried lotus chips are the best I've had. Good range of yakitori, similar to what you'd find in japan.

Ambience: I was in the private room so no complaints. Only problem may be the table was too small to fit the food? Imagine going to wagaya mixed with refurnished greenbox plus.

Service: It gets by with no major problems. Although the waiter did bring 5 drinks on a tray without knowing which was which.

Value: It cost us about < $45 per person which is what you'd expect to pay for 3 hours of karaoke and a nice dinner (if not more). Definitely be going again.

I have only been to the Karaoke side, however, the food I ordered was surprisingly good. They have a wide variety of "izakaya" style food (small dishes which everyone shares) ranging from Yakitori, Kushiage to Sushi. The drinks were of generous portions and there was a lot to choose from.

My background is Japanese and I've tried many restaurants in the city. If you're after a good night out with friends filled with drinking and eating, then I would highly recommend hiring a karaoke room. I will definitely go back soon!

As a replica of Wagaya, Mizuya had touch screen service rather than having to go through waiters and waitresses whom probably aren't as trained that well, the decor is dimly lit and there are barriers which allows a sense of privacy between the tables.

Ordered duck salad which also had some "1 century egg" pieces in it. A strange salad it might sound, it was pretty good to me as I am from a Chinese background.
Ordered a wagyu beef main, it came and was disappointing, not only presentation was just 2 pieces of meat on a hot plate with oil drenched vegetables but of the portion of meat that came it, they were the size of beef patties. Ordered a seafood hot pot, got a decent amount of seafood, however, was still a small portion for the hefty price.

My favourite would've been the Green Tea soft serve for $1 (there is an offer of it being $0.50 if you have it take away in a cone. It was good for its size and delicious. I was unsure of a dessert on the menu because there was no picture on the screen and the name did not tell me what it was at all, asked a staff and he wasn't sure and had to go ask his supervisor what it was in Cantonese, then the supervisor having to come up to tell me whats in it.

Overall, food was pretty okay, however, the size and presentation did not measure up to the standard of what was paid for the food we had. The lunchboxes here seem to have much better value than eating here for dinner.

Touch screen menu same as Wagaya. Bigger range of food and drinks though. They got lamb and even crocodile! Food about $30pp. Quality is fine without being great. You go there for the atmosphere, touch screen, drinks and the range. Only prob is the service for water. Wait for food is fine but they only give you half a glass of water everytime you order and it takes ages for them to bring it out. Will be back to try the karaoke!

Went here in its first week of opening. The staff weren't very well trained it seems as several items were mistaken even though it's all printed out for them. Either that - or there's an error with their ordering system. The food was standard, nothing bad came out - but nothing outstanding was included either. Pay a little bit more than you would elsewhere, but the atmosphere of the place does make up for it a bit.
