Pleasant place to drop in for a casual lunch. Service was a bit too casual, tending to off-hand. Food fine.

I went for brunch and was well satisfied with my delicious grilled haloumi! It was the best! The coffee was really good too.
They have some original touches to their food which makes the experience all the more exciting.
All in all I would say it is an excellent place with great atmosphere, especially if you like art too. I have been for dinner too and it is just as yummy!

The food is spectacular! Wonderful, diverse menu will appeal to all. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The space is a combination of art gallery and restaurant so be sure to check out the exhibition space upstairs. There are always wonderful exhibitions showcasing up and coming talent as well as renowned veterans. Great space for an event too!

I went with a group of 4 on a weekday night. There were only another table seated directly across from us. We ordered the polenta chips as well as the ham croquettes (that were the specials of the day). The croquettes were lovely but I felt the polenta chips could have been smoother (a la Bloodwood at Newtown).
Amongst the 4 of us, we ordered the duck, confit chicken, kingfish and orecchiette pasta. My confit chicken was incredibly salty but the lightly dressed salad at the side saved it a little. The orecchiette pasta could have had the potential to be amazing but literally half the plate was filled with capers which ended up making the dish extremely salty and nearly inedible. The breadcrumbs are a nice touch though.
The ambience of Mission is lovely. Too bad that the food was not on par.

Went to Mission recently and it was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive, I love the ambience, having dinner in the middle of an art gallery is a unique experience and this part of the evening I really enjoyed. Some of the dishes were wonderful, especially the tuna ceviche entrée. The crème brulée dessert served in a cappuccino mug was unique and enjoyable. It looked exactly like a cup of coffee!
Service was mixed, sometimes friendly, but often a little terse. Questions regarding the menu received a slightly arrogant response, restaurant staff should remember that not everyone knows all the 'cooking techniques' that can appear on a menu.
The steak was a big letdown. It went largely uneaten, and to the restaurant’s credit, we were provided a complimentary dessert. This impressed me, as many restaurants would have simply tried to sweep it under the rug. But this kind gesture was not enough to make up for a somewhat ordinary dining experience.

Tucked in a surprising nook, you'll find this wonderful restaurant. Mission is so named because the venue is in a restored Church in Chippendale. Upstairs is NG Gallery. Downstairs you'll enjoy outstanding food - run by Piera Potter and lead chef, David Walker. We started with tapas entrees: a deck of polenta and aioli chips and mushrooms and balsamic vinegar. OMG. Mains were the lamb specialty - Moroccan theme here - simply delectable - a pie to die for and a huge succulent steak - too much for our friend to eat. Wine selection was broad enough and well priced. We chose a $40 Grenache and Rose from Barossa - fruity and perfect. Great fress and well recommended. We will return, very very, happily.

Another visit to an innercity favourite tucked away in the back streets of Chippendale. Consistently good. Comfortable ambience - more like smaller restaurants in Melbourne. Loved the baked fish on the current menu.

We love going to this restaurant because as well as the beautiful food you can enjoy the art of the upstairs gallery NG Art. There is a new exhibition every few weeks and the menu changes frequently with the seasons and available produce. Last night I had pappardelle with rabbit ragout. The Wednesday Roast was well received and we had a variety of entrees and desserts.(particularly enjoyed the Eton mess). A hidden gem and worth a visit.

I brought 3 colleagues from USyd here for dinner, and we were blown away. Truly incredible food! The Parisian in the group asked that we come back here on his next trip to Sydney. Mission Bar is the hidden gem in Chippendale. Well done!

This restaurant seriously delivers every time! Great food, great service and ever changing artworks on the walls in the restaurant. Take your drink upstairs & you can view the latest exhibition while sipping your drink. I have soo many menu favourites & the desserts are to die for! Overall, fantastic!
