Very ordinary experience. Food is average, wine list leaves a lot to be desired. Might be a place to duck into for a fleeting and casual drink/snack but about the equivalent of ducking into McDonalds. I wouldn't make another night of it.

Food was nice but not amazing. We ordered vegetarian dishes which were overpriced for what you get. We didn't like the booth section as we felt very far away from each other. I won't be returning here any time soon as there are better tapas restaurants.

Tapas in Sydney tend to be ubiquitous and what gets called tapas varies wildly. One of the most endearing things about Miro is that the chefs are clearly traditionalists in what they offer and how they offer it.
Inspired by the modernist Spanish artist, Joan Miro, the bright red interior set off by blacks and whites calls to mind Miro's paintings. Indeed, several lithographs of his work grace the walls. The mood and look of the place is sedate and generally quite pleasant. The low and heavily insulated ceilings makes it possible to speak quietly with your companions and not be drowned about by ambient noise so prevalent in Sydney eateries.
Service is polite and solicitous, but generally quite slow. Whether that is a problem with the wait staff or with the kitchen, I am not sure, but generally I have spent longer dining times here than I have at other tapas restaurants.
The tapas themselves are varied, although just a touch thin in choices. The chorizo dishes are first rate, as are the albondigas (meatballs). The asparagus dish is also excellent and the potatoes I've tasted are lovely. I have not tried the paella or parrillada, so I can't comment on them. The wines I have tried here are all good, they boast a fairly wide range of Spanish vintages.
Being in the Spanish quarter, however, the one downside to Miro is a pricey dining experience if you are not careful. While the tapas themselves might be on the high side of average, they charge fairly premium dollar for their wines. Just be prepared to walk away paying three digits for a meal for two.
These negatives notwithstanding, I actually recommend this place, particularly if you want a quiet, leisurely meal with a friend or lover. Olé.

Nothing wrong with the food, in fact it was quite good. Wine was mediocre (we supposedly got the best Rioja, but it was probably in the bottom 15% of Riojas I've tasted). And the staff were actually quite friendly.
But here was the problem: We were told we could only get an 830pm booking. By 1015pm my wife was told she could not order a coca-cola because the bar was closed (note they did actually give one to her anyway). The restaurants had 3 or 4 tables left, and they start vacuuming. By 11pm they start carrying out the garbage and the staff change clothing in front of us. We leave, end up talking outside the door, and are asked to move because they need to take out the garbage.
This simply completely ruined the experience. I've been to Spain many, many times, and dinners normally start at 10pm or later. The total disregard for service and letting patrons enjoy their evening was simply staggering and destroyed what was otherwise a pretty good food experience.

I went to Miro's last night and needless to say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Sydney over the past 5 years.
First off we didn't get served for over 30 minutes. We didn't get our drink orders for 20 minutes, our tapas came in 2 parts which were 15 minutes apart.
The food was average to say the least. One of the tapas I ordered was the lamb and pear skewers, which was burnt/crispy and a little cold. Also, once we finished our drinks we were never asked again if we wanted to order another.
The restaurant wasn't overly busy so I am perplexed as to why both the service and food were well below par.

The first time I was here, I was not entirely happy with the service, but since being back here a few more times, I've felt that the service has improved. All the tapas that we've tried have been very tasty, and I am yet to fault any dish. I absolutely love this place. Would recommend.

The apple chorizo is So delicious and my favourite dish, each bite bursts with flavour and the apples, chorizo and sauce complement each other very well. Unfortunately, the dish size can be quite variable which is a shame given the price does not budge. The potatas bravas is a decent dish, although I usually order it to fill me up, as it could be easily improved with better sauces. The sangria is pretty nice with fresh fruit, however, I feel it's a little over-priced.
Overall, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney, the service is fantastic, the prices mostly reasonable, and the dishes are amazing. I always recommend this place to my friends and they have always been very pleased.

Food is good but not fantastic but the desserts are very ordinary. I'd go somewhere else for desserts but the tapas were all very nice. Paella is not amazing but still quite nice and will definitely have it again. Service was great. No complaints there. Will go back but will not have dessert there.

I have been to a fair few Spanish restaurants in Sydney. I must say that Miro Tapas will have to be the worst. I ordered Patatas Bravas and Chorizo for starters - Was amazingly disappointed. The potatoes seemed as though they were cooked in some cheap oil that was a few days old and the chorizo was too cold and dry.
For the main course we ordered the Seafood Paella. Must say that it was the most disgusting Paellea I have ever eaten. They used ordinary rice which I think was cooked seperately and not as part of the Paella cooking process. They had very less seafood in they and the squids that they had tasted like rubber band.
We asked the waitress to pack the remaining Paella as we cound not finish it because it was very bad. Thought we would take it home add some flavour and have it. There was half a crab in the Paella which was untouched by us. We specifically asked the waitress to pack the crab for us. But on reaching home and after opening the takeaway container we were really shocked not to see the crab.
Was terrible customer service. I think they would recycle that crab for another order. Very bad. Would never go there or even ask my friends to go there.
