Being a Pho addict I just had to try this place out having just moved into the area. Had shredded pork rice paper rolls which were great. Only when I got the Pho, the broth was actually not hot enough to cook the beef, which was disappointing. I think with so many Vietnamese places around now (which is great) you have to keep your standards up. I'll probably go back to Marrickville next time though.

Have always enjoyed Minh's excellent food and good service in the past so was looking forward to a mother's day lunch there with my family, including my Dad's Indonesian wife. She is a great cook so we wanted to take her somewhere good!

What a disappointment. The service was terrible. After our order our entrees started arriving but we still had no cutlery or crockery. Finally they delivered two forks and two spoons for a table of 7. My brother had to go and get plates, chopsticks and plates for the table himself. The summer rolls and the green mango salad were delicious so we weren't so worried. Then our two servings of salt and pepper squid arrived.

What a disaster. This dish had always been delicious in the past but today it was warmish and overcooked, very tough. What a disappointment. The beef with veggies and the seafood combination with rice were ok, nothing special.
Kangaroo on crispy crackers was nice, maybe a tad oily.

We were all hoping the whole fish with ginger would redeem the day. Unfortunately, it was pretty dry, I thought it was overcooked. Sri, our expert fish lover and cook said she thought the oil they used was old and probably not hot enough. They only flavour really came from the sauce.

Overall at $150.50 for 6 of us including drinks it was pretty pricey and a disappointment. I was embarrassed to have brought such a great Asian cook to such an average restaurant.

If Mrs Minh herself was enjoying a day off maybe that would have explained things, but I saw her in the kitchen. Overall, I would come again if friends were organising something there, but would never suggest it again. Sad to see such a great restaurant have such a consistently off day!

We went to Minh on a Friday night. We sat out on the pavement, on Marrickville Rd. We had a Vietnamese speaker with us, so we let him order. The food was superb. Since we had a vegetarian with us, we ordered vegetarian spring rolls and vegetarian pancakes. Both of them were delightful; the pancake was crisp-fried on the outside and filled with cabbage, bean sprouts and tofu. The spring rolls were as good as any I've eaten (and I'm not a vegetarian).

We also had good rice, with shredded pork and a tofu dish. Both were excellent; the pork was sticky and both sweet and savoury and the tofu dish was lightly flavoured and well cooked. And we also had duck with pepper in gravy. You must try that one. It's obviously a French dish, that's been absorbed into Vietnamese cuisine, duck that's been sautéed and then braised in stock with peppercorns, still on the sprig and sliced turnip. A great dish.

I'd love to try the phở. Next time I hope. And a word to the ignoramuses. In Vietnamese cuisine, there ate no 'entrées' or 'main courses' . Everything is served at once (exactly like Chinese food). If you want your Vietnamese food served Western-style, you should ask.

Minh can be excellent, but they do not know when to say they are at capacity. I.e., they will continue to receive diners even when they are short staffed which can spoil the service. Food, however, is always great!

It was a last minute choice and it was recommended to us by someone. I won't be recommending it though. The place was fairly busy, so that gave me the impression it was good. We sat up stairs which clearly needed some updating and a clean. The service wasn't great and the food was pretty much the same.

Had lunch with some friends here a few weeks ago. For such a small place that doesn't look all that enticing from the street they have fantastic fresh food. Chicken curry is so yummy. Will definitely go back.

We came here for Sunday lunch and I was really impressed. It was nice to sit out in the sun (it's a bit drab inside). We ordered home made lemon squash, home made iced coffee with condensed milk, beef salad (from the dinner menu) and the bun with bbq pork. Everything was delicious, fresh and quickly prepared, and the service was excellent. The bill totalled only $29! Will be back for sure.

The menu showed a lot of promise, but that's where it ends. We ordered take away and on the phone and during pick up it seemed we were being an inconvenience.

The food was majorly over-priced. We paid $87 for 2 entrees including vegetarian spring rolls which had pork in them, and 4 mains including a Chicken Sate dish with meat that was just inedible. All dishes lacked flavour, used cheap off-cuts of meat and everything had a fishy taste.

Overall, very disappointing. This was our first and last time ordering from here.

I love Vietnamese food, but Minh was sooo disappointing. The beef in betel leaves looked amazing but was seriously undercooked inside. The "spicy" papaya salad wasn't spicy at all, had capsicum in it (??) and a soggy texture that I just couldn't enjoy. Salt and pepper tofu had a thick, chewy batter, and lacked any hint of flavour.

The waitress was grumpy and rude and we paid $45 for one main, one salad and one entree. Not going back! Head to somewhere else up the road instead!

Having frequented Minhs in the past when I lived locally, I was surprised on a recent visit (back in D.Hill) to find the prices have gone right up, and the food quality down. Rice paper roll's that used to be excellent, are now almost inedible.
