The room is very cosy, and the food really nice. We would recommend the kaiseki menu which is very good value. The service was very good too, and fast.
This is the best sit down Japanese restaurant in Manly. There is far better available in the City but you have to make do out here. Food is good and always fresh. Service can be patchy but it's not a silver service place so I don't expect it to be perfect.
My husband and I have been going to Minato for years and have had a great experience each time, until last week. My large sushi was smaller then it has been past and not as good. My husband asked for extra mustard for his tonkatsu and they charged $2.50 for a small drop. I fear one of my favourite restaurants is going a little down hill.
Have been to Minato a few times and have always enjoyed the food. All servings are fresh and presented really well. The service is always very efficient and pleasant.
The wait staff are very attentive without being overly attentive. Going off the toilets is a funy experience (passing through the kitchen) with a washing machine in the toilet! It just adds to a good night and a good laugh!
Definitely the best sushi in Manly! Fresh sashimi and tasty chicken and tempura. Good value if you order out of the lunch cabinet and eat in or take away, although the dinner menu is more pricey. Service is prompt an pleasant, complimentary water and newspapers/magazines a nice touch if you eat in. You know it's good when you frequently see Japanese patrons. This is top stuff!
Simply one of the best Japanese restaurants on the North Side. I am a Manly local and go here at least once a fortnight. Service is a little slow and vague but it's always with a smile so can be forgiven!
Occasionally they have forgotton part of our order which is annoying, however the food is spectacular. A little more expensive than average but worth it for the freshest sashimi and incredible sushi rolls. Especially love the spider crab rolls - delish!
I am a Japanese and live in Northern Beaches. Since this April Minato has got a new chef and their food got marvelous. Do try 'Kaiseki', $50 pre-fix course. I recommend this for Japanese people, too. However, 'Katsu-don' and some other a la carte menus might not be so good as 'Kaiseki'.
