Pretty much have to agree with the flavour of most reviews on this restaurant. It is a little unusual to go to a Hotel? Motel restaurant unless you or friends are staying there - however we found most of the diners were actually booked diners and not guests.
Drinks were a bit top end price and slow to come. Food was wholesome and not over embellished with strong flavours to hide substandard cuts or ingredients, so I was pleased in that respect - it was a cut above most Hotel/Motel eateries and quite able to stand alone as a restaurant of distinction.
It is quite hard to find a good quality Italian restaurant. Milanos is a nice suprise. It is such a fantastic place situated in such an unlikely area. The service is fantastic. On every occasion I have dined here, I have been incredibly well looked after. You can't even touch your bottle of wine without a waitress coming out of nowhere and pouring it for you. Meals arrive quite quickly too, even on a busy night.
The atmosphere is great (again, suprising for its location). They usually have live music on Saturdays. The food is delicious, and not too pricey, very modern, tasty and well presented. If you're after a nice night out and are willing to pay about $50-60 for three courses (including wine) then I would highly recommend Milano.
Well what can I say, first time at Milano and didn't know what to expect, we were sat down quickly and asked if we would like a drink, later the waiter came along and asked if we were ready to order. Our drinks had not yet arrived but we ordered anyway. I ordered the crab salad which was beautiful and my partner had oysters which he said were great.
When I asked the waiter what a gratin was which accompanied the lamb rack he looked at me blank faced and raced to the kitchen asking the chef what it was, I thought it a bit strange but when he came back he had trouble explaining what it was. I didn't worry about it at the time but when my partner asked him what it was, he explained that it was a gravy sauce.
When our meals arrived which didn't take very long at all which was surprising as the restaurant was full, we were treated to fabulous tasting meals, mine being the lamb rack perfectly cooked and my partner had the beef tenderloin which the waiter had incorrectly described the sauce as well as the beef being a ribeye which instead was a fillet. After the mains we never saw him again and no one asked if we wanted dessert or more drinks.
We paid the bill and left. We gave them the benefit of the doubt as it was quite busy. All in all we were impressed with the quality of the food in a hotel in the west! We will definitely be back!!
Milano restaurant is hidden away from the Hume highway. Once inside it has very nice furnishings. Since its renovation, it has had the Tuesday steak special. It has now risen up to $14 but its still good value. It is cooked well and is made of very good grade rib eye. It does not have the toughness like in other restaurants. Since we saved on the steak meal, we also had some fresh natural oysters which, unfortunately, were too small for our liking. The open kitchen creates a lively affair, it was like music to my ears. Best steak quality to price ratio and very well cooked.
Was advised by a long time goer to try this restaurant when we first moved to Sydney beginning 2007. Have been there 6 times now. Menu is diverse, food quality is excellent, you get what you pay for! The Seafood Platter is enough for 3 people and always fresh. Each new guest we bring loves it too! Great entertainment on Saturdays and becoming a member (for free) has big benefits.
This restaurant is the hidden secret in Sydney. As soon as you walk in you are looked after as if you are the only customer there. The menu is quite extensive with a sensational Wagu steak which I recommend to everyone. The meal is well presented and cooked to your liking. I found the wine list to be quite diverse, with wines from Australia and Europe. Being in the wine industry this excited me a bit more to see such high quality wines. I have been to Milano's at least 20 times and have even spent the most incredible Christmas lunch there. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves great food, wine and service.
Let's be honest, for $13 you can't expect your steak to be prime steak, but don't be despaired because Milano's steak is definitely the best steak I had for $13 in whole Australia. Price of the wine is also reasonable but the selection could be better and their staff was very friendly even though they were quite busy.
If you're steak lover like myself, and cannot afford to spend over $20 for steak each week, you must try their steak on Tuesday, as they've managed to compromise their price but not on their service and most important their steak!
