Overview of Mezza Grill
A modern Lebanese restaurant on the Northern Beaches, with lots of character. Authentic recepies make it a must to try. The atmosphere is warm for families, and great to just dine out.
I have bee to Mezze Grill many times and love it. Lebanese food is by far my favourite cuisine, and have been to many restaurants and this is definitely the freshest food with the best value! The belly dancer and option to hire sheesha really adds to the restaurants ambience. The staff are also wonderful and very attentive.
There were a couple of things I found really wrong with this place that will make me Never go back. Firstly we wanted to order a cocktail each to start the night. The waitress recommended ordering a cocktail jug as you could get 4-5 drinks out of it, we only got 2.5, no joke the rest was mint leaves and ice and for $40 we weren't impressed.
Then theres the rest of the extremely over priced menu. How can some dips, bread and 6 kebabs possibly be worth $70?. Then theres the belly dancer and hideous techno music that comes out of nowhere so bloody loud and the staff yelling out and clapping, never again.
We are regulars and we absolulely love the food! Staff are very friendly and we highly recommend it! They also have function rooms as well. Their sheisha room is my favourite! Very relaxing when eating in there.
I do not rate myself as a food snob, however, in my professional life I am exposed to many good eateries, caterers and venues and I find reviews a valuable tool when making my dining choices. I believe that more of the public should write an honest review on web-sites such as Eatability. Restaurant competition is fierce, therefore, restaurants need to be made aware when a patron has had a terrible experience.
At Mezza Grill the food is ok, however, on our recent visit we were bitterly disappointed at the hefty increase in prices and no longer having BYO. The cheapest bottle of wine was $25 and was nothing more than a cheap and nasty $2 clean skin with a Mezza Grill label on it. If this was meant to impress then it fell way short of the mark, and even more offensive was the waiters dumbfounded expression when we asked him if he was going to pour the wine, surely this is not too much to expect when we purchased the wine from the wine list, instead we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong, go figure!
Further, it’s extremely arrogant giving themselves the kudos of being “The Best Lebanese Restaurant on the Northern Beaches” given there is no other Lebanese Restaurant on the Northern Beaches with which to compare them to! They need to come down a few pegs and see themselves for what they are, a small Lebanese restaurant on the corner of a laneway in Mona Vale.
The location is not at all inviting, the inside is cramped and noisy, if you are seated outside alongside the laneway you are exposed to car fumes, pedestrians walk through between the tables and you are subjected to cigarette smoke from the smokers huddled outside the TAB which is next door.
Mezza Grill you aren’t a fine dining establishment, serving your food on a fancy plate and a few minor renovations are not worthy of your over inflated prices. If you aspire to be fine dining then you definitely need to lift your game and make the changes to match the hefty prices. To be honest I was insulted to be charged $45 a head for a few dips and bread with a few pieces of meat on a stick and unceremoniously thrust a cheap bottle of wine that I had paid $25 for.
I won’t be back, my hard earned money will be much better spent at one of the many good restaurants along the Northern Beaches strip.
7 of us had the banquet with meat, one veg. As is the bummer with this type of eating, by the time the meat arrives, you've had enough dips and stuff. Would be better to all be on the table at once. Service was good, belly dancer entertaining, but where was her belly?! Cafe feel with restaurant prices. Expensive for what it is. No byo which cranks up the bill too. Overrated I think.
Two of us came here on a saturday night at 8 pm, the restaurant was quite busy.
We ordered the per head option which was 48 a head, to be honest I was expecting a lot more meat, there was a lot of vegetarian items to eat from but needed more meat especially at that price per head. We got a lot of dips, about 4 of them with bread, they were nice.
We also had a glass of wine each, total bill came to about 110, for a casual night I think that this is expensive, its a good place to go with friends when its not so casual. They had a belly dancer as well which was entertaining.
Service was friendly, food was ok, although entrees and mains were served all at once! Not happy with that one, just warm. Expensive, considering we did BYO wine, belly dancer was entertaining but danced too long! became tedious and boring!
We went on saturday, and took our children. They loved the food. The kids menu was fab. The belly dancer was beautiful and amazing and our food was divine and service fantastic. The place is packed on weekends so you must book and the atmosphere just buzzes. Highly recommend.
