A lovely find driving from Blackheath. Megalong Valley is gorgeous and so were the scones and apple pie in this tea room. Generous amounts of jam and cream for the scones and generous amounts of cream for the apple pie. Would love to be back! Great atmosphere due to the surrounds of the valley.
The best scones, home-made jam and cream to go with a lovely cup of tea. I love this place in autumn/winter when the fireplace is going, sitting inside enjoying the view. Great food, unpretentious service and atmosphere and tranquil.
A more perfect setting for lunch and afternoon tea on an autumn day could scarcely be imagined. My boyfriend and I visited the Tea Room this weekend and found it postcard perfect- peaceful and romantic. Eat in the garden and enjoy the crisp fresh mountain air and the views of the valley and surrounding sunlit cliffs.
I thoroughly enjoyed my crispy golden cheddar cheese, sage and onion pie with tomato relish and a beautifully presented garden salad. My boyfriend tucked into a steak and kidney pie and gave it two thumbs up. The scones were also wonderful- baked in the shape of the Three Sisters with fragrant homemade jam and lashings of fresh whipped cream.
I've been here a couple of times and each time indulged in the wonderful scones and jam. The homemade blackcurrent jam is just to die for, so much so that I buy a jar at each visit! The homemade pies are glorious and the atmosphere warm and friendly. Great in winter in front of the fire, and great in summer outside under a tree. Well worth the windy trip down from Blackheath. Megalong Valley is just gorgeous and great for horse riding.
Having lived in Blackheath for over 3 years I am a frequent customer of this wonderful tea room. The food is simple, well cooked and having sampled just about everything on the menu I can say with complete confidence and honesty that I have never once been disappointed. Everything is homemade and delicious and I can't single any one item out, although I do recommend the big country breakfast, the pies, the soups, the apple pie, the scones, etc etc. Long may they reign!
Seating on the verandah is lovely. Other seating available inside or in the grounds. Coffee is good. Food is classic country-fare. Try the ploughman's lunch with lots of ham, cheese & home-made pickles. My partner had the chicken pie which was also very delicious. The scones are divine! The drive down to the tea room is another special part of this experience.
Well well well, what a find after a long morning's walk! Beautifully relaxing and friendly owner (one of the other staff seemed a little more stressed by the busy luchtime rush). Homemade pies are amazing, baked to perfection - scones, cream and jam absolutely luscious. We were seriously considering another round of scones even though we were clearly stuffed. Perhaps it was a good thing we didn't have enough cash left on us to carry on doing the jam and cream justice although owner was seriously nice and offered the option of us just staying on and eating anyway, then getting the extra money to her afterwards or even sending it!
However, we had to leave the mountains the next day and could only imagine feeling mortified should we end up forgetting. This perhaps a shame they have no Eftpos / Credit Card facilities but clearly they're doing very well as it is, thank you although would enjoy mail ordering some of that amazing jam for here.
Food is fantastic and well priced. Ambience is great especially in winter in front of the fire. Service is very friendly and not at all pretentious. Worth the treacherous trip down from Blackheath!
