Great food everything was nice from entrees, mains and deserts. The environment was nice it had a relaxing feel to it, the waiter was very great and very attentive. Their sticky date pudding was so beautiful and yummy I will go back for more. This experience was so wonderful that I personally rate this restaurant as one of the best I've ever been to. The only problem was one of the forks were dirty but waiter gave a clean one straight away.
My honey and basil bread did have basil on it and it was nice. The octopus, though I had a nice oil base on it, was a bit too chewy. The risotto was nice but I felt the portion was a little small, same with the mixed grill which was smaller than expected and not that nice. So the food was average,
Service was good, they asked me and my friend if we needed anything but the food took a while to come out even though we were the only ones ordering when we got there!! But all staff was really polite.
In terms of value, I think it's reasonably priced for the Parramatta church street strip of restaurants. Ambience, it's a nice place, but me and my friend must of heard at least 4 car hoons playing their music loud, so if you sit outside, it's not the best atmosphere.
We ate here a week ago, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how well our night turned out. The service was outstanding, and the food even better! I was there with my partner celebrating our anniversary, and it came up in conversation with one of the waitresses; then managment offered us a free dessert to celebrate! how wonderfull! Give it a try; you'll definitely not forget it!
I went there for dinner with a group of friends for the first time on Sunday night. It was freezing, and despite the little heater next to our table we still caught the cold draught coming through the doors. Despite being cold, I really enjoyed my visit. The service was excellent, so friendly and welcoming.
The food took forever to make its way to our table, but it was well worth it when it did. I had the veal scallops, and they were delicious! For dessert I had the strawberry crepe, which was YUM. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but for such great food, it's worth it.
I'll definitely be back!
Some of the best food I've had in a long time (esp. the risotto) - I've recommended this restaurant to all my friends. A little expensive, but I think it's worth it!!
My partner and I had dinner here on Melb. Cup day around 6 pm. We were the only people in the place, so service was of course attentive. Perhaps, a little too attentive as we were watched the whole time and it got a little uncomfortable being stared at so often, but she was pleasant overall and I'd rather that, than no service. As 1 reviewer mentioned, the decor is a little dingy, but it might also be a suggestion that they clean splash marks off the walls next to the tables.
Ordered honey and basil bread for starters. Could taste a little honey, but no basil could be picked up. Mains: The Algerian mixed grill, listed as having an accompaniment of bread and dip. Bread was kebab bread, sliced and used as a bed for the meat. It was a good-sized portion, but no real wow factor. The other main: The Fillet Mignon which was, lets say, Interesting. Eye fillet cook as desired, but everything else on the plate was just wrong and killed what should have been a really good meal.
The bacon was incredibly salty (and I’m a salt fan) and the so-called Dijon/brandy sauce was like salty swamp water. A bed of mashed potato is hard to get wrong, except of course if it’s the powdered variety. The mash was so dry, grainy, and powdery it just couldn’t be eaten and had a slight chemical taste to it. Never tasted anything like it in my life. As we had a 2 for 1 offer it wouldn’t be right to voice our displeasure (They need to make a profit after all) I tipped for service, but wouldn’t go back again based on this experience.
I really enjoy eating at this place, the food is reasonably priced and delicious, and if you sit towards the back, the restaurant is quite cosy. I have to say that compared to other restaurants on Church street, this place looks pretty 'run down' in terms of its internal decor, but if you can tolerate that, you should enjoy the food and the service.
Excellent, the food was yumzz... and the service was good too, the desserts were especialy good, and the mains and entrees were as fresh as expected. We enjoyed a lot.
