I can't commment on food but usually when I'm at this end of the city, I like to stop by and get my coffee from here. Usually there is a slight queue but it moves quickly and I find their coffee smooth and probably weak for some but thats how I like my coffee!

I'll have to disagree with this review. My two experiences at Mecca were nothing like yours. The girl was incredibly rude on the first occasion and the salad I ordered was ridiculous. De-boned chicken with a hunk of iceberg lettuce for $13. It said that it came with walnuts and none were included. The second time I was served by a much nicer man but when I chose to drink half of my takeaway coffee at a table he approached me and my friend and told us that 'in future' we should remember that takeaway beverages are not to be consumed at tables. Highly unprofessional service, very rude and horrible food. Will not be returning.

Needing to get my kick of coffee while in the city, I visited Mecca Espresso. Unfortunately, after a long wait, I got what could only be considered an average coffee without any of the hit you get from a really well made coffee and quite underwhelming.

Seems to be consistent with other reviewers who have had variable coffee on different days. Will try again though as had good coffee in past. The only issue is that the queue is very long but time to relax for a bit.

I only had coffees at Ultimo. Coffee was great one time and not good at all the other, but service was not friendly each visit.

Only had coffee in Mecca Espresso, Coffee is definitely freshly roasted coffee beans and freshly grinded, and they use quality milk to produce just 100% perfect coffee that I'd love every day. The shop has a lovely coffee oil smell that's just homely and inviting. No matter how long you have to wait for, it's truly worth it.

But the problem is that the coffees are not consistent. The first day I had a great coffee, then another day I went there in the morning rush hour, and the coffee is not even as good as the coffees in my business building. Very disappointed.

I'm not sure if I should judge the food because I didn't try it. I still give them 10. Lets talk about the coffee, I was attracted by the review the best coffee in the cbd, I would like to do a qualilification based on take away or sit down coffee. Sorry I'm the believer that if you don't have enough time to sit done and drink coffee, life is not fun at all (sorry to all take away drinkers). I try to drink coffee with friends and coffee is important, but the key element is socialising. This place has a great location if you cut the noise by 50%. It dosent look like any expresso bar in italy, greece, spain or france! It doesn't! It looks like a 3 by 3 whole in the wall. When I ordered my coffee I was particular on the way I wanted it to be done ( machiatto, short and creamy). The staff looked at me very strange that they forgot that the custumer is always right and they said to me sit down with out the magic word, please! The coffee was strong, fruity and was good, but not the best.

This place is miles ahead of anything else in the city. They take pride in what they do and the wait for coffee is worth every minute. Not the cheapest in town, but the standard is so much better that those extra few coins make no difference. Great job boys, you deserve the credit you get.

I work around the corner and I can not get through the day without a coffee from Mecca, neither can any of my work mates. It is the best coffee in the city! The only problem is that I am always so disappointed on the weekend when I go to other cafe's and experience poor tasting coffee that takes forever to make it.

Amazing coffee. Average food. Excellent, informative service. Will be back for more double ristretto's. $3.50 slightly expensive for double ristretto.
