This is the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. From the moment we walked in we were told that we were too early and to wait outside until they were ready. We were then seated at a lovely table but only if we had known this was going to be the biggest waste of money ever.

We ordered a lovely bottle of wine, which to our horror when poured still had half the cork in the top. I mentioned this and he just said oh it will be fine, bit of cork never hurt anyone. He poured all glasses and walked off! I thought this guy.. Who is the senior staff must be joking! I informed him of our cork problem so he said he would strain it! Um! No thanks.. Given we are at a winery I would have hoped this guy would care more about the beautiful wine this region has! Obviously not! After much avoidance he finally came back to the table and he provided us with a different bottle!

Lunch was okay but it was so over priced and the service really made this experience one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had! The senior staffs of this fine establishment need a lesson in hospitality!

At our latest visit here a crisp duck confit with creamed potatoes arrived as limp roast duck with mashed potato, a little disappointing. A dessert of chocolate and hazelnut torte was pleasant. Serves are quite small given the prices.

We have never been made to feel so unwelcome! From the moment we walked in, the senior staff made us feel unwelcome. If you do not want toddlers, please say so at reservation. The senior staff made several disparaging comments about our 2 toddlers and we ended up leaving the restaurant in disgust. My father, who is a bi-lateral amputee and who suffers from leukemia, was greeted with the comment "Oh, another set of wheels."

Our children have dined all over the southern highlands and have always been complimented on their exemplary behaviour and have always been treated as welcomed guests. We left here before dessert, took my mother's birthday cake, paid the over-priced bill, and left. When my father commented on unfriendly service, the reply was "Well this is a restaurant and not a playground." Our children were supervised, and/or seated. We had books, toys, sweets etc to keep them happy. We booked a 6 pm dinner so that we would be totally unobtrusive to any other clientele and for 90% of our visit we were the only patrons in the restaurant!

Food, whilst good, was extremely small portioned and very over-priced. Bottom line, If you want tapas go somewhere else. Needless to say, we will never go back to McVitty! And we are locals!

Fantastic new chef at Feast @ McVitty. Wonderful crispy duck confit, succulent salmon with a Laksa sauce, tender chicken breast with Moroccan flavours and the warm sticky chocolate and date cake with Muscat cream fantastic! Well worth the hour and a half drive in the country to visit this cellar door and restaurant. The new highlight of the Southern Highlands with the most amazing views and ambience with a central open fireplace.
