I fully agree with the overall high rating of May's here. I'm a weekly regular of this restaurant, and having tried many of their dishes on their menu, can well understand why this place is extremely popular.

Food is fresh and comes out reasonably fast given the heaving lunchtime crowds. I'm a big fan of stir fried dishes and have to say their Mee-goreng is one of the best I've tried anywhere, with a good mix of flavours and ingredients.

Chicken rice as well is a must try but usually sells out given how busy the place is. Well recommended in my books.

Service is fast and efficient, and the food is good. I like the Hainanese Chicken.

I usually have lunch with a few pals and order diff dish each. Right after we had tried Nasi Goreng. All of us never have anything else But that. It contains a little burnt aroma and rice softness. That's excellent.

One of the best hainan chicken rice I've had anywhere in the world. Funky music playing and the staff are friendly and energetic. Try and get there before 12 though as the cues can be long.

To be honest, first time I came to May's I was close to not ordering the hainanese chicken because compared to the hainan chicken rice that I've tried in a well known Chinese restaurant in singapore, none of the chicken rice in Sydney could match up to the taste of the rice and chicken. May's chicken rice however is the absolute closest tasting hainan chicken rice to the one I had in singapore and I could not have been happier to find a restaurant that could live up to my chicken rice standard.

In general the line is always long every time I come in, so its better to be an early bird before all the food gets sold out (Chicken rice especially) and apart from the excellent prices, the fun part about eating there is they always play funky music, which makes the whole lunch experience more enjoyable.

Everyone in north sydney should have already tried Mays, if you haven't then you are definitely missing out big time, and those working in the city, it's definitely worth it to take the train down for the chicken rice.

Everytime I come here queue is always long so I have to be early. Food is tasty and superb, price is reasonable and service is fast. My favorite is hainan chicken rice and har mee. I always go there every week, sometimes twice a week.

It's clear why my office regards this eatery as the best place for lunch in North Sydney. The queue alone rivals that of Mamak, and at times you can really struggle to find an empty seat in the joint, but to the hordes of people who eat here, they know why.

It's the freshly made food. It's the service. It's the music. It's the vibe, energy and experience. If all Hawker food was this good, I'd book a one-way plane ticket to KL and work over there as an expat.

What I like about this place is that they are so generous with the vast number of sauces, prawn crackers that accompany the meal. Portion sizes are great for the almost ridiculously cheap prices you pay.

I have to say that every dish I have tried is delicious. My favorite one is the rendang beef. Melt in the mouth tender. The rendang sauce is sooooo good with the rice. One taste of their food and you'll see why this place is so popular.

There's always a crazy line outside. I work in North Sydney and it was hard to find consistently good food, until May's opened in North Sydney. Now I find myself trekking there regularly, and my colleagues too.

Laksa here is a must try, but I go for Hainan chicken rice a lot when I don't want to ruin any more shirts (them laksa stains....) The chicken curry and beef rendang are also great ever since they upped the serving sizes a few months back. Also be sure to grab some free prawn crackers and sambal, some of my colleagues love those.

Food is pretty cheap too, <10 for a serving size that I don't need to go for a double lunch a lot of the time, despite my username.

Staff are pretty friendly, I've asked them for stuff like normal rice instead of chicken rice when I'm feeling healthy and they've obliged despite the crazy long queue.

Main disadvantages though is that Berry Square is noisy so its hard to hold a conversation, the crazy long queue [go early - 12 sharp], and also laksa's not exactly the healthiest food in the world - often makes me just a bit sleepy in the afternoon.

But otherwise if you work in north sydney and haven't been to this place, would recommend giving it a try.

I love this place, I go here almost every lunch and never get sick of it!
The prices are great for the amount of food they give you and the music just makes the place liven up. I do have to say you need to wait a while for the fried dishes, but theyre making it fresh. So all the more reason to wait
I highly recommend the char kway teow, its awesome.

Usually I do not write reviews but had to make a mention about this. I ordered the chicken laksa, after waiting for about 10 minutes my number was called and a staff member could be the senior staff kept talking my ear off also holding on to my tray so I could only take my lunch when he had finished talking. There is a line between being friendly to the customer and talking way too much and not knowing when to stop.

I found that extremely irritating especially when I don't have the time and my meal is getting cold. The laksa looked good and serving size was reasonable But after eating about half of the bowl of laksa, I scooped the noodle together with a very long black curly strand of Hair. I felt so disgusted and almost threw up. I have no further intention of ever going back. So for those who like to eat laksa, think twice before you go unless you want a special ingredient of hair in your meal.
