I've work in hospitality and customer service ever since I step my foot in australia. But never once I didn't return my customer money even though it's just 5 cent for their change. What happen on saturday 7/1/2012, last weekend at Maya Surry Hills was absolutely disgraceful.

Even though it's just 2.90, whatever the change is rightfully belong to customer. It's up to us, whether we want to give it as a tip or not. U might have the best indian food (we think it's just an average), but ur service is absolutely zero (even minus). Never ever want to come back again. Ever.

Wow what a great restaurant! Had heard a lot about this place from friends and finally made it one rainy afternoon. Food is fast but fresh and service is flawless. Tried the grilled chickens with raita and samosas and they were incredible and full of flavour. Absolutely cannot wait to return.

I ordered delivery from Maya Da Dhaba, waited for 3 hours and still not getting anything. I could finally have my dinner at 10:30pm while I ordered at 7:30. Guess what, food is cold.

Finally returned after meaning to do so in over a decade & wasn't disappointed in the slightest. This was the restaurant that first turned me on to Indian food & for some reason I just never made it back.

Fast, friendly service, excellent food & great value. The Prawns Gulnar were the pleasant surprise that put the meal over the top. Definitely won't be waiting for such a ridiculously long time to go back.

My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a few years now and have made this restaurant one of our staple restaurants.

The food is always awesome and the waiters are great. Gary is the main man and is dedicated to making sure that everyone is happy. I have taken a few people from overseas and Newcastle to this restaurant who absolutely love the place and ask to go when they are in Sydney.

Its a good place to take work colleagues and clients etc, but suggest that you book before hand as this place is almost always packed out, especially in winter. For entree I rate the Dhaba Platter for two or the Bhoti Kebab (I think that what its called).

For main I rate the butter chicken and chicken malabar. If you are a vego, you will also love this place. I obviously not a vegetarian, but enjoy the vegetarian options here. For two people for entree and mains you can expect to pay about $65 in total.

I have not tried many of the wines as I tend to BYO, but they do have a reasonable selection. We usually get BYO on Crown St which is a 2 min walk or from the pub next door, but thats not to say the wines are not worth trying.

If you are in Surry Hills and are keen for a good Indian, give this place a go. It will not disappoint.

We had an absolutely awful experience with Maya Da Dhaba. We have a training session taking place with ten facilitators and we have a dinner break each day from 6-7pm. I ordered seven dishes plus rice on Thursday for delivery at 5:45pm on Sunday.

The restaurant called to confirm on Thursday and we called to reconfirm on Sunday afternoon. The food had not arrived by 6pm so we called and were told the driver was 5 minutes away. We called repeatedly and they kept telling us they would call back. No calls back. Finally the food turned up at 6:45pm with ten minutes to eat it. Absolutely disappointed and angry at this outcome. I would not recommend Maya Da Dhaba and I will never eat there again.

Nice vegetarian Indian food. We ordered the Vegetable dosa and the goat cheese dosa. The dosa here is always so delicious and crunchy. I would definitely come back here if I ever crave vegetarian Indian food.

We got here at around 6:30 on a Saturday night before the guests started pouring in. Were seated at the back of the restaurant while the staff sat around wiping cutlery (So Noisy!). The food was just okay. Sheekh Kebab was delicious and flavoursome but the tandoori chicken had no flavor was way too dry. The Chicken Makhani also had no taste, they really need to increase the spices it was way too bland. Cheese naan hardly had any cheese and was very small for a naan. Garlic naan was perfect.
