The ambience would have been nicer had they had music and air con, the lady who runs the place is a total grump, the food was okay but very expensive for size and quality.

We went in on a quiet week night. Virtually no one there but the service still managed to be terrible, slow, inept etc. Food was disappointing too, meat was dry and 'salad' was barely more than a handful of shredded lettuce. No flavour at all. It wasn't cheap either. Place looked like it should feel warm and cheerful, and maybe it does at the weekend, but the service was so snooty, the place so big, barn-like and cold that we didn't feel at all comfortable. Very disappointed.

I don't know where the diners of others reviews were, though it certainly wasn't this restaurant. Service was awful, our group waited 30 minutes upon arriving for wine glasses, and before that no one attended to us at all. We were forced to have a banquet on the Saturday evening, and the first course was on the table when we arrived, and some other diners small child was sitting at our table enjoying himself, this can not be hygienic, nor was the food freshly prepared. It’s not acceptable when dining in a restaurant and have food sitting on tables before diners arrive.

Rather than receive the pide course, which I was looking forward to, we received a bunch of c-grade battered, oily seafood, Turkish cuisine? The following shish course was very poor, lamb was substituted with goat, the chicken was extremely oversalted to the extent that it shrivelled your mouth (I suspect to mask not quite fresh chicken meat) and the kofte was mediocre.

Dessert was a fruit platter and included soft grapes. Extremely poor value for $55 per person and a very disappointing evening overall. Soft drinks were included in this price, and were flat when served, another disappointment. I will never be back and tell everyone what terrible food and poor service is at Maxim. Unfortunately, Maxim has turned me off of Turkish food.

I took my wife there for her 40th birthday dinner (like another member I see here) after reading the reviews on this website. We went on a Saturday night and it was $55 a head not $65 as it mentions here. The live music was great and was still going after we left at close to midnight.

The food is top quality and is basically as much as you can eat because you can ask for more of whatever you like. Very good food and lots of it. Only thing is that the waitresses (2) were a bit slow at times in bringing what we asked for and sometimes we had to ask a few times. But if any other quality was to slip by improving this, I say keep everything just as it is. We all had a great night and left completely stuffed.

We went for dinner here on a week night, so we did not experience the entertainment. That was fine by us though, as we had a wonderful experience here. Our waitress, who also was the assistant chef, was a lovely Turkish lady who blew us away with her service ethic, bubbly personality and helpful demeanour.

We shared the $40 per head banquet, which included corkage, dessert and tea. Our meal kicked off with freshly baked Turkish bread sections and selection of dips. The standouts were the gorgeously smoky baba ganoush and a tasty eggplant, tomato and potato cube mix. The carrot dip was so sweet and tasty we thought it was pumpkin. Then there was the pide, fantastic also.

The main was selection of meat and chicken cuts, lamb cutlets, rice and a green salad. All the meat had heaps of flavour, the rice and the salad being the perfect accompaniment. We were that full we passed up the dessert and tea, and took a doggy bag which did us both a great lunch the following day! Terrific service, no expense spared on the decor, and lovely authentic food, a really pleasant surprise.

We went here with a big group for a birthday dinner and we had the best time. The food is excellent, especially the fresh Turkish bread, haloumi and pides. The service is congenial and friendly, the waitress poured wine for everyone on the table which I thought was a really endearing touch (it's BYO).

The birthday people received a complimentary fruit platter with candles which was a unique and intelligent thing to do (we were absolutely stuffed, a heavier dessert would have pushed us over the edge into groans).
