It is a good place to have a hot chocolate during winter as I love their thick Italian version, but it is over priced and the service at paddington is the worst, with the lack of flor staff, dirty plates take forever to get cleared and orders forgotten. It is one of the smaller shops as well so seating is limited.

It's still a novelty to be able to catch up with friends over chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate but you really have to face up to the fact that the food and drinks here really isn't amazing. You can't really disappoint when you chocolate coat everything. There isn't anything wrong with the food, it's just overrated and could be easily done at home. You're really paying for the convenience of having someone else melt the chocolate for you.

Max Brenner is normally dimly lit to add to the ambience but I found this particular one to be very low in lighting and atmosphere. The food quality is the same as all others which is great. But the service isn't as friendly.

I'm not going to lie, max brenner chocolate cannot be beaten, even though I myself have had a few bad experiences with service at paddington. The problem is that the cafe is not big enough, it can get very overcrowded, and staff become quite careless, sloppy, and on occasions rude. In saying that, when you can get a table, you will be willing to put up with mediocre service purely because the taste of anything you order will be so damn good!

Me and my partners faves are the thick italian hot chocolate, the peanut butter choccie, and the tutti frutti waffles. You could probably say they are overpriced, but I think you pay for a taste of chocolate heaven!

I love the chocolate at max brenna's! It is to die for. The waffles are delicious, so are the coffees. The wait for a table is long, but worth it overall.

These guys are having a laugh! 30 minutes for two coffees! I am not exaggerating. The waffles, obviously bought in a re-heated. The pancakes, very average. Yes, they do nice chocolate, but this establishment is destined for a forgotten place in Sydney's dining history. Bye.

I absolutely love Max Brenner. Their chocolate dip with strawberries, waffles and milk chocolate are delicious. Definitely a must go for chocolate lovers. It is very busy on the weekends, so it can take ages to get served (if getting takeaway) and forever to get a seat - but it's worth the wait. Have come across a few rude staff members. The toilets are disgusting. Sometimes there is only access to the male toilets. Maybe they need to employ someone to maintain them a bit better.

Must try the belgium waffle (I prefer mine with dark chocolate drizzle and strawberries). The ambience is great with their chill out music and a mature version of willy wonker's chocolate factory decor. Embrace their chocolate culture! I visit Max Brenner at least once a week.

Food - Belgian waffle was good. $5 OK value. Drinks - Dark Chocolate Frappe also good. $7 appalling value. "Coffee" disgraceful. Service - One hard working waiter was running around whilst his colleagues lounged around and chatted.

Consequently it took 20 minutes for our order to arrive. Ambience - Nice (but obviously a franchise) decor but a complete mess when we walked in. Lots of free tables but most had dirty plates and mugs on and all needed a wipe down. Value - 10% surcharge on a Saturday? Are they taking the piss?

Overall: Would go back if I was passing and in the mood for chocolate but wouldn't make a special trip. Wouldn't go at weekends.

Well its obviously not fine dining but its cosy, innovative and with the most generous chocolate fondue for 2 in Sydney (the Guylian one was disappointingly small). Clearly one can't mistake the feel of being in a franchise chain but $5 for a crispy waffle laden with melted chocolate and a refreshing lime and mint frappe is good enough for me. A bit of a staple for a dessert bar. Wish they wouldn't close so early though.
