The restaurant is modern and clean and pleasantly located away from the busy, main streets. This is going to be my new place to go for Korean food. Unlike your average Korean restaurant, Maroo offer many traditional Korean dishes on their menu.
The food in the banquet menu was delicious, and came out quickly, almost too quickly, however, staff were more than willing to hear us out, and brought the courses out a little slower. Service was attentive and friendly. Everyone had a great time and were all impressed by the restaurant. Highly recommended.

I came to this restaurant to catch up with a Korean friend. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the service seemed quite professional. We ordered a meat dish (the name escapes me) and cold buckwheat noodle soup which is a particular favourite of Koreans (eaten during the summer). The food was pretty expensive and neither dish was particularly thrilling.
However, some of the other dishes I noticed on other tables looked better than what we ordered so I would come back to try them. I also think this restaurant suits social gatherings with a larger group of friends where you can try out multiple dishes. On top of that, it's a pleasant, clean and newish establishment.

This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant but only the first time that I have been able to adequately sample the menu. I was dining here with a large group of 20+ people to celebrate a birthday. The host had arranged a banquet. We didn't have an opportunity to see the menu itself, however, the variety of food served was good and the flavours and skill demonstrated noteworthy, especially for a local Korean restaurant.
My experience has been that Sydney although having a number of Korean restaurants, none are exceptional and at best they are average. Those who have dined in Korea will be aware that the calibre of Korean food there far surpasses anything offered in Sydney.
Maroo is not a standout restaurant in any sense. However, it is above average, better than many of the restaurants in the Korean hubbubs of the City, Chinatown, Strathfield or Eastwood. For a local restaurant handy to little, this is quite a feat.
The decor is clean, newish and modernish. They offer nice touches such as complimentary salad, sweet pumpkin with red bean soup, the obligatory Korean side dishes with the main meal and fresh fruit and Korean rice punch at the end of your meal.
Standout dishes were the seafood pancake, with just the right amount of seafood and crunch in the texture and the steamed pork belly with chilli, radish and oyster relish (the pork looked like it had been first steamed and then roasted).
I will be back. Try it for yourself.

I read good reviews about Maroo Korean BBQ Restaurant and decided to give it a try and wasn't let down.
I had a lunch with a group of 5 people here last Sunday. We ordered marinated beef ribs, chicken, pork, squid and rice cake. All meat was very fresh and came with various tasty vegetable side dishes. Service was quick, staff were friendly and helped change the grills several times, and the prices were good.
Will definitely go there again and recommend it to my friends.

Have been walking by the Top Ryde Maroo Korean BBQ for sometime and finally last night decided to try it out. The restaurant is extremely nice, clean, and comfortable. Three of us ordered the vegetable pancake for our entree, and shared the BBQ plate for our main. Everything was delicious, service was quick and helpful, and the prices were excellent. Definitely looking forward to going back in the near future. Would be an excellent place to go with a big group of people too.

Dined here last night (Monday) with a party of 10 others who all love Asian inspired food but few who had eaten Korean food before this night. Most of us chose the set $24 banquet menu which consisted of little bowls/plates of sweet pumpkin soup, various little salad 'tempters' of seaweed, radish, kimchi pickle, sweet potato noodles, mung bean fritters, preserved egg and some calamari all with a hint of delicious sesame and/or wasabe. 1 couple chose to have the BBQ which they cooked themselves on a charcoal grill in front of them.
This consisted of a platter of prawns and mussels, some pork, beef and various vegetables. All was very fresh. Our 'main' dishes of the ever popular bibambap, Korean rice cooked and served in a stone hotpot arrived absolutely steaming hot and delicious. Its crisp rice base topped with various vegetables and glass noodles had us all in 'crispy heaven', for want of a more apt description.
A sweet cinnamon/ginger tea (a good digestive) and a shared plate of fresh fruit brought the meal to a finale, leaving us satiated but not so full to feel 'stuffed' as they say. Service was efficient and reasonably friendly with the restaurant itself being fresh and sparkling clean. I am definitely looking forward to a return visit soon as it was considered good value and very delicious.
