I always laugh at the tourists sitting in this place paying double the price for the seafood that comes out of the same kitchen that runs the takeaway next door. The seafood here is the best seafood on the Northern Beaches. Nothing else even comes close. I recommend the Seafood Snack as the best value takeaway.
I had the Silver Dory with Garlic Prawns (served with chips and salad), and it was fresh and quite tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. A bit pricey overall.
It's very pricey for standard fish and chips. No imagination in the cafe or take away section menu's. Service is take it or leave it. Much better food elsewhere in Manly.
Bit disappointed, I had the fish cakes which tasted very strange, some type of spice added like nutmeg or cinnamon which totally took over the taste, have no idea what fish the fish cakes were made of, very small portion of chips so we asked for some more and were charged for the extra, my partner had the seafood basket which was OK, calamari not too fresh, and small amount of chips again. Glass of wine tasted odd, probably won't go there again.
This is for the take away section of the cafe. The fish and chips from here are the best ever Fantastic Value for money. At times the wait for your fish and chips is a little long but that's understandable as the cafe has earned itself a fantastic reputation therefore a massive clientele.
I love this restaurant, great fresh seafood with many choice. As soon as you sat, they offer nice slice of bread. The service was prompt and quick. I never wait even I order some couple of grass wine, they just brought it guickly. I had prawn and oyster combi for starter which was 4 king prawns were biggest I ever had in restaurant and 6 oysters, and john dory and garlic prawn came with chips and salad. The portion was big enough and tasty. I love to go back.
Rather disappointing. I could have been happy with the compulsory side : chips and salad (that is green leafs of the packet, no dressing ) if the seafood was tasty and interesting but it was very plain. The seafood in the Mornay had no taste and was overcooked. I guess the safe way to go would be to get grilled seafood but then it is expensive for just grilled seafood. The ambience : bright lights and blue neon! Don't expect anything more than a standard fish and chip shop, only higher prices. Service rather average.
The fish is fresh and tasty but rather unimaginative. The ambience is chilled and the service is low-key. A good local restaurant but overpriced for what you get. $28 for a main is a bit much when it's simply grilled fish with a standard salad and standard chips. But I can see why it's popular.
Great food, really fresh seafood and big variety. Decor not really a modern trendy place, bit tired but doesn't detract from friendly service and generous sized servings. Highly recommend this place for a good honest feed of seafood. Has it's own fish market and take-away next door.
