Had home delivery and ordered the butter chicken and the Rogan Josh, rice, naan bread and pappadums. It was disgusting. could not eat enough to make me even slightly satisfied. Didn't receive my pappadums either, very disappointed.

We made a booking and were seated at 7pm, there were 3 other couples it wasnt very busy. After waiting for half an hour the waiter finally took our order. The waiter ignored us everytime we approached him even though some customers were being served before us after only being seated. We were finally served with food at 9pm! Shocking. Our entrees and mains came at the same time. We used a jigocity voucher but half the food in the menu wasn't available. Very disgusting customer service! We will never be returning here.

Food is ok in this Restaurant But the service and Ambience is worst. They say they are busy when customer wants to talk to them. This is the first restaurant I see in Sydney for worst customer service.

The food at Mand's was excellent! We had veg pakora and veg samosa for entree. They had good flavour/spices. For our main, we had an fantastic butter chicken and beef do piaza with garlic and keema naan. We were really impressed with the food. The environment is pretty basic. Nothing special.
There was one service staff and he was friendly. The restaurant was nearly full, so he was not able to attend to us continuously. We used a jigocity voucher for most of our meal, so the value was amazing. However, we will definitely return because the food is worth the menu price.

Good scottish style indian food, recommend more offerings with the popadoms i.e spicy onions, mango chutney and lime pickle.

Was very disappointed with the prawn madras we ordered. I could have made something with more flavour picking up a sauce bottle from woolworths! The biryani was good however.

Went here with my girlfriends last night. There were 3 of us and we basically rolled out of there by the end of the meal. We ordered one each of the vegetable samosas, seekh kebabs, dahl, garlic and pashwari naan, rice, butter chicken and fish curry. Upon seating you get a serving of papadums with raita on the side.

Do not let the size of the meals fool you: as with most Indian restaurants I've been to, they are usually served in little copper pots. These were perched upon tea light holders to keep the food warm. Food was just perfect. Ambience is like a typical take away store: the basics. Tables, a television screening Bollywood musicals. Nothing fancy.

Service was fast, but half way between our eating, the other table who happen to be there just finished. So pretty much no tables to be competing with. I'll leave the toilet without any influences on my review. Someone did mention in another review that you have to walk outside into a little ally way to get there and yes it's tiny and they could probably give it a better scrubbing.

Apart from that, the food was good. I'm so happy to have found a place that does good Indian food closer to home. I promised that I'd be back with the family. For $23 per head to get stuffed to the brim, well worth going to.

Great value that's been around for ages. The decor has been finally been given a facelift. Cheap and cheerful.

My boyfriend and I ate at Mands on Wednesday night after it being recommended by some friends.

The food was beautiful and there were so many choices it was hard to make a decision. Having how hot each dish is was a huge help to a softy like me as well.
Although having said that, the service left a lot to be desired. We were seated immediately and given our menus. Five minutes later we’d made our choices and were eager to get our orders taken. It was a Wednesday night so they may not have been expecting many people having only one waiter in the restaurant.

There were only people at about four tables and the waiter still managed to forget about us. After about 15 minutes we couldn’t even catch his eye, meaning I had to order at the counter. He apologised and said something about the 5 credit cards he had laid on the table in front of him. Once we got our orders through, it took about 45 minutes for the food to get to the table, which is probably a bit longer than I would expect to wait for food in a small restaurant. By the time the food arrived, there was only one other couple in the restaurant.

Despite the relatively slow service, the food was great and even though the waiter forgot about us, he was lovely. I would definitely return, although maybe not on a Wednesday night. I'm not a fan of the TV on the back wall either.

This is a tiny place with room for only about 40 people, but it’s the cutest little restaurant in the area. The decor is plain with grey-white walls hung with the obligatory Indian-themed pics, tiled floors and standard black and grey furniture. On the back wall is a TV showing an endless stream of monotonous Bollywood dance musicals.

But that aside, Mand’s offers outstanding value for money in a comfy and homely atmosphere. Two of us dined on a Saturday night and for $50 we got a shared samosa starter, two mains, a vegetarian chickpea dish and a lamb dish, (both chosen from the “chef’s specials” which you’ll find in the front of the menu) rice, naan bread, mango chutney and dessert.

And they don’t stint on quality. All the food, from starters to desserts, was fresh, tasty and served in just the right portions. The lamb especially was tender with a tangy sauce and the gulab jamun dessert was a winner. It was soft and buttery and just melted in your mouth. Service from what seemed like the owner (or his wife) was friendly, polite and efficient. The menu is well laid out and easy to read.

I give full marks to these guys for running such a tight ship. My only complaint was the toilet. It’s a single, unisex affair, about the size of an airline toilet. To get there, you walk out the back and through a grubby door. It’s virtually impossible to move once inside and I knocked my shoulder against the towel dispenser as I tried to exit.

Surprisingly for a Saturday night it wasn’t full although there were a few occupied tables so we weren’t alone. We took the precaution of booking ahead an hour or so before arriving just to be on the safe side.

You’ll find Mand’s near the corner of Alison and Avoca Streets. As we live nearby we walked. If driving, your best bet is to park in Frances Street, opposite the Randwick Town Hall. From there, it’s a pleasant 10-minutes stroll down Avoca St.

And you never know who you’re going to bump into here. We spotted federal cabinet minister and Labor powerbroker, Mark Arbib, coming to collect his Saturday night take-aways. Mark Arbib patronises this place, so that’s a good advertisement.

Whilst we love Mand’s and will always go back, it would be nice to see it getting a lick of paint, some new furniture and a toilet enlargement!
