Mancini Woodfired Pizzeria

When one places an order online (when available) and the site then responds with -

"Order successfully placed - deliveries – Orders will be delivered within one hour from time of order. Deliveries start at 6:00pm."

One would assume food would duly arrive within the hour. However, 70 minutes went by and still no food. Called the establishment (and I loosely use those terms) and asked whether it was arriving or not. The lady placed me on hold for 5 minutes and thereafter said order should be arriving as Driver had just left, should arrive in a "matter of minutes". I called again after minutes only to find out that they hadn't received my order at all, and had now wasted 90 minutes of my time.

Without an apology in regards to the online capability, she asked whether I still wanted to order. I asked how long it will take now (mind you, it was now 8pm), she said up to an hour. I did not hesitate to respond no, and hung up. Mancini's has lost a customer which I expect to continually do so. Terrible terrible service.

Ordered a take-away and given a price over the phone. When I went to pick up the order, the price had increased by $20. When it was pointed out that they had a special for 2 woodfired pizzas for $26, I was told that this did not include gourmet woodfired pizza! It is still woodfired. Staff were ambivalent with no idea of customer service.

Beef on the beef pizza was tougher than boot leather and prawns were tasteless. The pasta was like soggy cardboard with a bland sauce. Once bitten, twice shy.
Crust would have cooked a better and cheaper pizza!

Gave our local another go last night in the hope it had improved. The food had slightly but the service was appauling. We had to ask to have a drink order taken and then again to have our food order taken. Our shared garlic pizza cam quite quickly so I thought things were going to improve. I was wrong. There were 6 of us. 2 main meals came out, then 15 mins later the thrd main came out, then 20min after that my childrens and my pizza came out!!! I had watched 3 other tables that arrived after us receive their meals and when I asked twice what was happening I never got a response! When we complained no apology or discount was given. This place has real potential but I could not stand going through that service gain.

I dined here on a friday night, the lighting was perfectly adjusted and relaxing to sit and eat with. Great seafood.. Real king prawns. Best part of the pizza definitely the dough, alot of choice for variety. Best tiramisu in Sydney. The service was average, although it was a very busy night. Food was efficient and by far nicer food than down the road at riverwood and peakhurst. I will return here and I highly recommend the food here. Good value for money, great family venue.

Mancicnis, there isn't much to say apart from slack/rude service, average food that is overpriced and achievable by the average home cook. We had an 8 pm booking, ordered right away and we weren't served our food until 9:15 and then when it was time for coffees, roughly 10 pm, we were told that the coffee machine was turned off at 9:30. Disappointing to say the very least!

Burnt dessert. Eat here the other night with a group of friends and everything was going swimmingly until dessert.

Entree: wood fired garlic pizza, bread and dips, good. Their basil pesto is nice. Mains: an array of wood fired traditional pizzas and a gourmet pizza, the gourmet is nothing to write home about. Dessert: crème caramel, burnt. The issue was burnt caramel, rendering the crème caramel completely inedible and leaving a terrible taste in the mouth.

The outcome from the manager (via the waitress): “it’s not burnt, there is nothing wrong with it and you will be charged for it regardless”. It was taken away (notably uneaten) and charged on the bill. Would I go back? Yeah probably, if I’m in the area. The value for money is decent. Would I order dessert there again? Definitely not.

Note: our waitress Helen was attentive, apologetic and good.

I agree with the comments below about the poor service. I have found the food to be overpriced and average. I tried to give one staff member a tip for going out of her way to be helpful only to be told that all tips go to the kitchen for division. Lugarno desperately needs a BYO restaurant with fresh food, good service and variety. Put Mulga Tree, Chilli Man or any other restaurant which provides food made with care at a reasonable price and it will be a huge hit.

Lugarno has Lugarno Seafood (overpriced, old fashioned and no BYO), Manicinis (read below) and a nice cafe called Limes which is open I believe for breakfast and lunch. That's it! Come on aspiring chefs, there's a whole suburb waiting to support you!

Update September 2010.

A friend organised a gathering of 5 people at Mancinis last Wednesday night. What a shocker! We ordered 2 salads and 2 large pizzas. The salads were nice but it was over an hour before we received our 2 x pizzas.

A Wednesday night is Lugarno is not exactly"jumping" when it comes to restaurant bookings! My friend asked the waitress when our pizzas would be coming as "it's been over an hour". The waitress responded "Are you serious", laughed and off she went. That's it for me, Manicini off my list and yes if you are reading this Mancini Waitress "I'm serious".

My partner had decided to entertain 2 work colleagues and their respective partners in our part of the world so the couples travelled from the eastern suburbs across.

Meanwhile, I attempted to book a table and was asked for my telephone number and that they would check and call back. They didn't and when I called back 30 minutes later was offered the same response, as my guests had arrived I suggested to the girl on the phone we will just come up and hope for the best. On arrival noted the restaurant was less than half full and no increase throughout the night.

The female waitress who attended to us was very professional and appropriately attentive to our table of 6. Food was timely and all dishes delivered at the same time. All thought the meals were very nice ande value reasonable.

We all were disappointed when the staff stacked the chairs on all the other tables at 21:10 and started mopping the floor given it was a Friday and they were supposed to be open til 23:00. The poor decision to do this meant we had no opportunity to order desserts and coffee's. Most uncomfortable and unnecessary.

A group of 6 came here for dinner on Friday night. For a start a young girl was serving in a school uniform which is totally inappropriate. We ordered our meals, 4 pastas arrived and we waited at least another 5 minutes for the other 2. Whilst waiting I requested Parmesan cheese and cracked pepper, a girl ran over sprinkled some on my plate and neglected everyone else. We waited until we could get someone elses attention and requested it again for the rest of the table.

By this time the food was going cold. Food was awful, I had marinara, calamari soft and overall no flavour, everything was obviously pre-made and re-heated. To top it off we were charged 'cakeage' for birthday cake which they simply carried out. They did not cut or serve it. Do not waste your time coming here, bad service, bad food and very overpriced.

Fantastic pizzas however every time we've ordered the staff on the phone either hung up on us and we had to call back (might have been accidental) or they simply put the receiver down while they were taking other people's orders which I found a bit rude. I do not mind waiting 45 mins-1 hr for the delivery as the pizzas are really nice I only wish they did something about the people who take the orders.
