Seems to have changed recently. I like the change of decore but still no linen. Good wine selection and resonably priced (or BYO). Had a great merlot 2003 for $29. Partner and I had entree pasta - fresh and delicious. Thank you new Mama!

Just had dinner there. First time after the revamp. Ambience is better. Food is as good as before. We enjoyed the dinner a lot.

This place is awful, worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I went there last night for a friend's birthday dinner. We went for the for a 7:30 pm booking and we were served our starters at 8:45 pm. We waited over a hour!

The food was very average but it did actually taste good, I think it was mainly because I was so hungry! The service was very poor, they seemed very confused and they were very slack with the drinks. They lied several times about when the food was coming.

I would have walked out within about 40 minutes but the birthday girl didn't put her foot down. I will never go there again and I strongly advise anyone thinking of this place not to go.

Upon ordering a take-away pizza the last thing I would have expected to find would be peppermint flavoured chewing gum In it! Then when the pizza was returned and a complaint made, it was met with snide remarks, condescension and absolutely no genuine remorse. Disgusting.

Great food slow service and understaffed, this is the second time we have been there and experienced bad service, with so many restaurants around we may give this one a miss next time.

Pros:
- The gnocchi was hand-made and fresh
- Staff were polite and helpful (if a little confused)
Cons:
- Napoletana sauce was nothing special, quite acidic. Tasted like cheap supermarket pasta sauce.
- Found a piece of plastic in one of the pasta dishes.
- Served beef tortellini and called it "ravioli" - would expect an Italian restaurant to know their basic types of pasta.
- The food took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive. We had a table of 15 (booked in advance) and nobody ordered anything complicated - just pasta and pizza.
- They advised us that they had run out of two particular types of pasta but didn't tell us until an hour after we had ordered - not sure why it took so long for them to realise. Several people then re-ordered. Five minutes later, we were then told that they were actually still serving one of those pastas, so some orders were changed back.
- Despite taking over an hour for the food to arrive, one dish still didn't arrive until everyone had finished eating.
- Tiramisu was underwhelming

Food tasted horrible. The staff was very friendly but didn’t tell us there was a table of 30 above us that would receive their food first. We waited 2 hours to be told about the 'above' party. Then deciding to arrange a takeaway for our food, getting to the cash register for 3 entree's and 2 mains with 5 sodas, eating only 2 dishes in the actual restaurant over 2 hours cost $120!

The food when we got home was so small, the chicken was chewy in the pollo risotto, veal was like hide and seek in sauce with 2 pieces of broccoli and 1 potato. Friendly staff. Nothing else! wow how the reviews have changed overs the years.

We came to Mama Teresa's when it first changed hands and were delighted with the experience, friendliness and homely food. We often order takeaway and would come here 2 - 3 times a month because we enjoy it so much! It is comfortable, without being over the top. Always friendly staff. We have never had a bad meal and would recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Here is perfect example of a great restaurant that has forgotten what it is all about and gone with extravagant refurbishment in place of great food.

Anyone who has lived in the Eastern suburbs would know that this place has been around for years. You could not get a sit on most nights without a booking and it had a fairly small, but well-established menu. Then, for reasons unknown, the owners decided to participate in one of those tacky TV programs where the restaurant gets a make-over. Lets just say that it went waaaaay downhill from there.

Basically they only started the refurbishment when they ran out of money. It is now under new management which proudly boasted to us that they spent over $1m(!!!!) renovating. The place looks pretty good, but it has completely lost its personality. The menu is completely changed, more expensive, portions smaller, and most importantly the food and service are just terrible. The staff got all our orders wrong from drinks, to starters, to mains. Everything took a very long time to come out, didn't fill us up at all and cost nearly $100 for a couple without dessert or coffee.

For a place that is not particularly central, with no parking and no reputation to speak of, there are just no rectifying qualities in this restaurant. A big disappointment for anyone who has never been there before but an even bigger disappointment for anyone who ever considered it a favourite like we once did.

I have given this place a try twice once for dinner and once for lunch. The food is very ordinary and over priced for what you get. Both times I was with a large group and not one person could say the food was good. Would not spend my money there again!
