This place rocks!. Almost tried everything on the menu. Lamb dish is the winner!Food is good in general but they have to do something to lift up the service!

I was raving about going to this place, always a line in front of it, and when I finally got to try the food, well, I was quite disappointed. You get exactly what you can get in a canteen, from the ambience through the service to the food. I was with a couple of friends, one of them already been there and loved the food. He basically ordered for everyone, chicken satay, a couple of different roti and some chicken. Chicken came out in 2 minutes. Ok being fast but. It just tasted like something made in bulk.

Same for the satay, which was also definitely too sweet. I suppose roti was all right, it was my first time with that, probably the last as well, didn't love the dish, not my taste. Servings are generous, and the place is cheap, it's always packed, a lot of young ppl and international students, very noisy.

Interesting experience, but I won't line up again for something like this.

The roti canai is pretty damn good and worth putting up with the crazy long queue. I went on a Thursday night and the line was just as long by the time we finished.
The curries had depth and flavour and the sambal had a kick.

The place was a bit tight for space and noisy but in a good bustling sort of way. The service was fast and efficient. Calling it Malaysian fast food would be an insult but the rotis come out in next to no time.

The food is nice but certainly not as good as the hype and the long queue outside the restaurant. Would recommend only if you don't need to queue up for hours.

Had heard a lot about Mamak, so queued up on a cold Sunday afternoon for some lunch. I was disappointed in my meal, and not sure whether I just ordered badly? Nasi Lemak with chicken came with two knuckles of chicken, plain rice, cucumber and peanuts, all separately on the plate. It was more like eating a salad. The Murtabak with Lamb was like an spiced omelette but solid. Not particularly delicious. The fish curry was spicy, but full of bones. The roti with red onion was a bit soggy. Overall, cheap and cheerful, but nothing to rave about.

I've been here once never with the intention to return again. The food tasted average, so I don't understand why there's always a long queue outside. Am tempted to try the dessert though.

I have travelled to Malaysia before and know my food. To be honest I was disappointed with this place. Although it has a kopitiam (hawker's place) feel to it. The menu selection is not that great really. The only selling point for them is the roti making in front window, hence, people queue up and want to try (a bit like moths attracted to bright light!).

Food arrives quickly except roti (due to making time involved). We ordered chicken and it was bits of bone really, not much meat indeed. So I thought it was really a let down. The salad dish that we ordered was too sweet. My partner and I thought the food was heavily spiced, I thought I was eating spice powder at one stage.

So overall I will say that my partner and I will not be keen to go back again. My family members also went there last year (I did not attend) and did not like their food either. You will be the judge if you are still curious about this place.

Have been here a few times and every time have enjoyed the experience. Love the sweet and savory roti, chicken satay (with the peanut sauce!) nasi goreng, mee goreng and the cold and hot drink choices. They don't take bookings though there's a queue every evening. The food here is definitely worth it!

Mamak may well be the most economically priced 'chef's hat' experience in Sydney. It may also be the only hatted restaurant where one is required to drink wine out of tumblers! But this non pretentious, (indoor) street-food approach is a big part of Mamak's charm.

Whilst the quality of the food may not quite justify the long queues it is never the less very good. The prawn sambal is, as described, 'fiery' prompting our party to glug our way through several bottles of water. The chicken and lamb curries were also very good and (on the basis of a recent holiday in Malaysia) prepared in authentic fashion. The satay sticks and noodle dish were the usual standard standard fare.

Everyone seems to mention the roti's here and I would agree they are as good as I've had anywhere. Probably better. And the roti 'tower' served with ice cream was also a wonderful feat of engineering!
