Always go here no matter how long the line is. I love Malaysian food.

Mamak's roti are the best I have ever tasted. I enjoy their teh tarik, roti pandan, satay sticks, Nasi Lemak and my absolute fave, roti canai. I have to have a plate of my own cos it's that good!

    Great service, great atmosphere.

Today we had lunch at Mamak, Chatswood. We ordered nasi goreng, 1/2 dozen of beef barbecue and 4pcs of their signature fried chicken. Out of the 4 customer tables we were the first one to order. The nasi goreng came out very quickly. We saw lots of fried chicken orders went out to other tables. Even to other groups who were new comers and 1 order within the tables right beside us.

When all the orders of the other 3 tables close to us have been completed. We followed up our order. Our beef barbecue order which was about 2.5 inches long x 6 came out when the the 3 tables are half way from their meal. After constant follow up our chicken eventually came out when the other 3 tables were finished! Absolutely, shocking!

Not giving an exact duration one can appreciate the length of time that an order was made, served and finished before we got our order.

And to top it off, when asked to have the late delivered food to be taken away. They gave us a tray and take away bag and told us to do it ourselves! What is the difference of a customer ordering for take away?

Last but not the least this stressful lunch experience cost $56.00.

Known for their Malaysian street food menu, Mamak serves up some pretty tasty dishes. Roti (sweet and savoury), fried chicken, satay skewers, fried rice and noodles. The food arrives quickly (sometimes too quickly), there is ice milk tea and milo on the menu and the wait staff are also pretty helpful.

Mamak is a magnet for long lines. If you can stomach the wait time, then Mamak is a nice, cheap eat. Otherwise, it's really not worth the wait.

We went here on a weekend for lunch and it was packed. Extremely busy which is a good sign. We were 4 adults and a baby, and there seemed to be many families there with kids in prams.

As it was so busy it took a while for the waiter to take our order. We ordered the nasi goreng and a few murtabaks, and frankly they were excellent. The best I have had outside of Malaysia. Highly recommend the place for good value food.

I do agree with the previous review. Don't know why they have such a long queue. I found one day that there are some people who queue out side the restaurant but not get in to the restaurant for quite a long time, strange? They might order some take away, might be? Who know?

I came here just once and don't like their food at all. Won't come back again, sorry guys.

I don't know why their always has a long line out side the restaurant. We came here once , may be we expect too much from the line, though the test will as good as the name. We tried Roti canno - sorry about the name, great presentation but .. just don't like it at all. Chicken- deep fry yellow chicken, taste was very very bland. I couldn't full myseft with thier food that night. Don't know and don't understand other people. Anyway, Their service was good, friendly even they were busy.

Mamak is just kind of fast food malaysian.I was into it when the hype was first around but bit by bit have realised theres much better malaysian out there such as makan at alice's. If I do go it's usually for a roti kaya (pandan) and teh tarik which are both delicious and I get the odd fried chicken craving. Chatswood store is a little less busy but service is much if a muchness between the stores. Very quick when you can get a hold of them.

The Chatswood store is almost as busy as the city store but not as tasty. Their Rojak cold salad was nice but beware of their Kangkung Belacan - even though we requested less spiciness, it was still fiery hot. Standout dish was the Kari Ayam (curry chicken), very flavoursome and best eaten with their roti or rice. Also try their various savoury and sweet rotis by themselves, great ways to start and finish the meal.

Best nasi lemak I've had in a long time (probably the best I've had outside of Singapore/Malaysia). The satay is also excellent and they give you lots of the delicious sauce (but was a bit disappointed that it wasn't served with the rice cubes that you usually get with satay in Singapore/Malaysia). The roti is quite nice but you don't get a huge amount for the price. The cendol was also delicious.

Service is not bad for this type of place. I was impressed that they were able to fit us in with no reservation at a busy lunchtime considering we had 7 adults and 3 babies. Looking forward to going back to try more of the food.
