What a fabulous formula. Huge servings. Fresh ingredients. great European cooking. The ADF could go out to battle, feasting on Malibu's meals! I've now been here twice in 2 weeks. And both times the experience has been consistently first rate.

Based on prior reviews I thought we would encounter a Seinfeld-esque soup nazi experience. Instead we were greeted by Marcella and her partner proudly making door-stop sized sandwiches with focus and attention to high quality. Each thick sliced sandwich measured 10 cm high and 14 cm across.

Full of scrumptious potato salad, dill pickles, sweet potato, home made mayo/aioli, zucchini, the freshest of veggies and more... each sandwich was varied only by a menu of add ons and the choice of beef, tuna or schnitzel. Mmmm :)

My Malibu favourite - easily the fress fest schnitzel and salad sandwich and equaled by the belly filling schnitzel salad. Both amazingly huge and New York deli in style. Will I return? Happily. But only after a week has past - which is how long it will take me to digest today's meal.

Rude, rude, rude staff. I don't think I've experienced a ruder person in my life, and I work in an industry where people are rude. First time placing an order and was asked large or small for a sandwich, large or small I asked unaware you could get large or small bread.

So I thought the service at Petersham Charcoal Chicken was scary but wait, there's Malibu to take the cake! What is it with Sydney cafes/restaurants who think serving good food means they have the right to be rude to their customers? Yes the huge schnitzel sandwiches are great and the potato salad .... mmmmmm! But, I always have a sense of trepidation before I go and during the ordering experience.

I always have to give myself a pep talk ("Come on. You can do it. It will be over really quickly and then you can just enjoy the food") before I even venture into their tiny cafe. It's just a sandwich place. Malibu should just get over themselves.

Forget getting a sandwich at lunchtime inside 30 minutes from these incredibly rude people. Malibu has become a dysfunctional out of control cafe. Local businesses send juniorburger staff to get 20 Malibu sandwiches for the office while all the poor punters stand and wait and wait and wait. People at Malibu, if you don't want to lose even more regulars tell these jerks to preorder their enormous orders in the morning or go somewhere else.

How can some people be so rude and yet serve such great food? To be honest they serve excellent food for the price that its costs. But what came with that delicious chicken schnitzel vienna bread sandwich are a few extra toppings free of charge:

As Follows
•Downright rude service.
•A self-absorbed, winching arrogant attitude by the staff
•A service with no understanding of putting the customer first let alone third.

People don’t take it personally, believe me it happens to everyone in fact its quite amusing! It’s just sad to think that their arrogance is a huge detriment to the success of there business. Oh Well! I guess the staff’s attitude is if you don’t like our service don’t come back! So I am still deciding. Enjoy!

Fat of the land. Friendly too. Chicken schnitzel, mayo, vienna bread and salad, $10.50. Could only eat half. Looking forward to afternoon tea.

This place makes enormous sandwiches. If you're starved, like I can be after hitting the pool, then this is where you should come to refuel. Everything is ultra healthy and for what you get, amazing value. I enjoy the vegetarian on brown vienna followed by a ham, tomato and bocconcini toasty, maximum capacity reached.

Best sandwiches in Sydney, $3.50 lunch special is the best value in Sydney! Amazing! The big sandwiches are good value also, they are certainly not on the stingy side.

This is just the best food. Their wonderful bread is just the best and makes for a massive meal that must be shared as it is so big. I normally get the chicken schnitzel (I don't know why they persevere on those tiny hot plates. Maybe that's why the tempers are so frayed!) and then the to-die-for coleslaw, plus roasted tomatoes. Sooooo good.

The salads are just great also. They seem so simple but there is no way I can replicate them. Keep it up guys and please try enjoy yourselves.

Ahh Malibu. Home of the infamous "Sandwich Nazi". The food from this tiny cafe is sublime, but getting it is simply a horrible experience. For some, so bad that they started a Facebook support group, before all were promptly banned by Marcella for life.

If you google Malibu, you'll find old cached reviews from many sites, including this one, that have since been removed. This strikes me as counter-productive - why not spend all that time banning people and tracking bad reviews on more important things like realising that your customer base is not infinite and people want to be treated nicely when paying $9 for a salad.

If you can get past the cramped, long line, the aggressive tone and bickering of the husband/wife team who run the place, the sandwiches and salads will be reward enough. You may swear that you'll never put up with rudeness like that again, but you'll be back there in a couple of days timidly asking if there's any poached chicken left!
