Being a lover of fancy food, I am in love with the new menu here. Seriously a step up for Newtown. Loved the pate and homemade prawn butter, delicious!

One of my favourites! The kangaroo they can overcook sometimes but the squid gets top marks and everything else is great. Staff are wonderful and I love the Tuesday movie nights!

For some reason, my last review didn't make it on, but I feel so strongly about this place, I have to do it again. Yes it's 10's all around, but after the night we had there, what else could we do (The ratings don't go past 10)
I booked out half the room and had my birthday here. Sonia was absolutely brilliant, from the early communication when organising, to making sure everything was ok on the night.

The staff were attentive and very friendly. The cocktails, oh the cocktails, divine! The Morroccan Bloody Mary had everyone pulling faces (In an oh so good way), the Sleepless in Sydney made me uncomfortable, because one of my friends showed way too much enjoyment and excitement drinking this (The kind of excitement usually reserved for more private moments?).

The food we had ordered from the set menu was fantastic. Sonia had recommended this way, and I can't fault it in the slightest. More than enough for all the guests, and extremely reasonable prices.

Overall, we had seriously one of the best birthday parties here. I will be holding my next birthday here, without a doubt.

Went with a friend for cocktails and a few munchies. Funky couches, loved the relaxed atmosphere. Need to try movie night next time!

We came in for a Hen's night on Saturday to the cocktail bar upstairs, we only stayed a while because there was a function on that night and we didn't get a chance to taste the cocktails but look forward to trying them another time. I have to agree with other reviews that the mezze plate isn't great,but the barstaff were very accommodating and friendly, a great start to a great night.

Have been here a few times now and always enjoyable. Fun atmosphere, great drinks, friendly staff and good tapas. Desserts delicious. Sofas not very comfortable, need to be re-upholstered.

I've been to two of the Tuesday movie nights here and have been to the bar on two or three Saturday nights.

I really love this place, a slice of Melbourne in Newtown. I think it's the best bar on King St. Great ambience. Comfy couches, interesting people, some beautiful cocktails. The only reason I don't come here more often is that the drinks are quite expensive. But if you're only after a couple of drinks, it's the place to go.

The movie night is fun, the couches are all set up theatre style and you can cosy up in the dark. The bartender will bring drinks to your chair, which you can order at any point throughout the film. It's $20 and that includes a mezze plate (not enough to fill you up, eat a salad or small meal before you come), a glass of wine/beer/soft drink, and the viewing. Book for the movie night about a week in advance to assure your place.

Importantly for me, the staff are all very nice and are great at their jobs. Haven't eaten at Soni's downstairs apart from the movie night, so don't know anything about it, but overall I very recommend this fantastic little bar.

Went for the $20 movie night, mezze plate was a real disappointment (although the hummus was fantastic), but for $20 for the food, a glass of wine, and a movie, you of course don't mind! (Just to elaborate, platter consisted of couple of thin slices of bread, 5 olives, hummus, small piece of this really weird thing which tasted like french toast made of cornbread but way too greasy, and a small piece of a frittata-type thing.)

Ordered some haloumi and potatoes bravas to round things out for the table, and they were both fantastic, so, perhaps, consider that if you're hungry. The cocktails are fabulous (try the awesome Moroccan bloody Mary) but the pricing is sometimes a bit steep (Bloody Mary great value at $9.50 but up to $21 for some types which I consider to be pretty standard cocktails.)

Ambience is excellent, and the movie night was loads of fun. Have also eaten tapas downstairs at Soni's on a prior occasion, and it was really nice. Service is efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.

This place is great. Great concept, nicely delivered and yes, very Melbourne. The ambience is friendly, cosy and relaxed. The drinks are good to great, and the food was surprisingly yummy. Whilst I haven't been to one, their movie nights sound like a perfect fit for the atmosphere, and I look forward to going sometime soon.
