Love the Whacko Tacko.

I was never a big potato fan until I stumbled along and found this cafe, never thought you could make spuds so tasty, the wacko tacko is definitely a favourite.

So if you're Irish and you're looking for a taste of home you need go for breakfast at Mad Spuds Cafe. Boxtee and Penny Cake, proper black and white pudding, reasonable priced and the staff are just lovely. It got mentioned to me through a friend in work and I wasn't disappointed. Definitely worth getting there a little early to guarantee a table.

I've been going regularly for a long time then took a break for about 3 months. The reason why I took a break was because once I found a piece of hair in my food. I had pretty much finished eating and found it in the sauce. The waiter didn't apologise or anything. I was a tad confused.

Funny enough it happened again recently, however, I found the piece of hair before I ate. The waitress was apologetic and brought out a new plate for me. Furthermore I wasn't charged for it, which was incredibly generous.

Now for the food: I personally don't like the mushroom polenta but everything else is quite great. Everything is relatively healthy. Their menus change by the season so they no longer have orange + poppyseed pancakes, which I miss so dearly.

The mad spud stack is always great and so is the Boxty. If you're not sure just try their specials. Moroccan Chicken Salad is so filling I can never finish it.
The place is really clean and they've actually replaced their furniture.
Sometimes I wish they were open till later but most cafes in the area close around 3 pm.

You're bound to be full no matter what you order.

One of surry hills best cafes. Great potato dishes, I had the "mad spud stack' it was so good, the Irish boxty potato dish is also great, good coffee and friendly service, topped off a great lunch. Well done Mad Spuds.

Absolutely delicious food. Broad and trendy menu. Healthy options. I got a lot more than what I was expecting. The food was presented very well and staff were very friendly. A must!

Spuds is great. The best veggie food in surry hills, I have eaten here a few times, the Quinoa salad and the lentil cakes are awesome, they also do healthy baked potatoes with veggie fillings, coffee is really good here too.

Went to Mad Spuds Cafe for the first time today. Ordered a takeaway sandwich - "spiced pork and barley sausage". It sounded different and appealing. Instead I got two thin slices of toast, some caramelized onions, bit of sausage and bacon. I don't know if their menu is deliberately deceptive or they just ran out of spiced pork and couldn't be bothered telling me. What a ripoff! If you're looking for a good sandwich, forget this place.

I have been to this new funky cafe almost ever week since it opened. Being vegan it is hard to find places that can accommodate their menu to peoples dietary needs. My favorite dish would have to be the greeny! (the corn bread and spud power tie at a close senond!) the combination of sweet potato with the spiced coconut lentil sauce is to die for!

The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, they also have an awesome selection of salads and breakfast items! go the felafal quiona salad! Amazing! their coffee is organic and fair trade, what more could you want from a cafe!

This place has to be Surry Hills best new cafe, a Spud cafe. wow. The menu is so exciting, Funky style potato dishes, I had the Mad spud stack it was awesome, my partner had the special Chili con kipfler, baked kipflers with chili con Carney, rocket and chili oil, he can't wait to go back. Its not only potatoes on the menu, they have a huge salad and sambo section, and the breakie sounds so good, planning to go there this weekend, well priced, with great coffee and very friendly staff. Go the Spuds.

The terrible name stopped us from trying this cafe for a long time, but it is great. Excellent, tasty, healthy, innovative food with delicious vegetarian options at a good price with really nice staff, efficient service. Much better food than most of the cafes in the neighbourhood.
